The box on the lower right corner of page 49 mentions that the Alliance has recovered the Normandy SR2 and are rebuilding it.

But how will those people react to a ship controlled by a functional AI?

More importantly, how will EDI react?

As she has stated, she is the Normandy, so it's unlikely she'll take the chance of the techs discovering what those computers behind the medical bay really contain.

And since she controls the ship, there are a number of ways she could actively resist intruders.

Turning the gravity off or increasing artificial gravity, depressurizing the ship, using the external weapons to fight off ships that come close and if she really feels pressured, unleashing the fury of the main cannon at her enemies.
And then there are her hacking abilities to factor in, if she takes control of more ships and service drones, she has an fleet/army to defend her if necessary.

I'm thinking the Alliance may take exception to a functional AI controlling the most deadly ship in the galaxy, so it might not be safe for EDI if they find out what she is.

Or could EDI "pull the wool" over their eyes and pretend to be a standard ship issue VI while secretly protecting herself from deactivation/removal from the Normandy SR2?

I think EDI will likely be shutdown by Joker under order of the alliance for the refurbishment to take place and will likely make sure EDI is a secret to the council and to the public simply because of the anti A.I. the public have.

And they will alter her programming and coding to remove the bugs TIM put in the ship and stop EDI transmitting data to cerberus automatically. of course all the cerberus information on their is taken by the alliance to further fight against cerberus and I can imagine she will be shackled once more unless of course.

Hopefully they keep the reaper technology would come useful in ME3 but I have a feeling that the alliance will take it out and assess it and work out how to mass produce it

Watch and see how the Alliance once again messes with something beyond their comprehension and **** hits the proverbial fan.

By Wrex' sacred quads, if they're responsible for EDI somehow malfunctioning or going rogue, I will hunt down every one of those idiots.

I hope that any changes to EDI will be minimal and sensible. I like the character and feel that 'she' is very much one of the crew, irrespective of her origins. If EDI is changed, dumbed down or even removed, the Normandy will be a poorer place for them doing so.

I hope Shepard will have enough pull to keep EDI intact. After saving everybody's bacon in ME2, I know I felt indebted to her. She proved her loyalty - my Shepard will go to bat for her.

If not possible, perhaps with the help of some of the team and some subterfuge on the part of EDI herself, EDI is introduced as merely the "VI" of the Normandy.

The Alliance doesn't necessarily agree with the Council on all things; I'm sure they'd respect an AI that has proven itself in the field by saving not only lives but the ship as well.

If not, I am prepared to go anti-organic on the galaxy.

She'll be dumbed down and streamlined. Obviously.

I was thinking about that too. I think an explanation for why EDI is still with us in ME3 is as follows:

-Alliance gets the Normandy.
-Alliance discovers EDI.
-Alliance cuts her power source.
-Alliance wants to study EDI before destroying her like they should according to the Citadel laws.
-Alliance studies EDI while refurbishing SR2.
-Alliance finishes working on upgrading the SR2.
-Reapers invade and Alliance has no time to destroy EDI.
-Shepard and crew take the Normandy and restore power to EDI.

Shepard: My ship has an AI. So help me if you shut her down I will put a round in each of your heads, is that understood?
Alliance workers: Yes M'am.

The Alliance has shown on a few occasions that they don't really follow Council law when it comes to AI. We know of a few occasions where they've made one (Hannibal on Luna, Eliza on Gagarin Station). They will probably be more interested in EDI as something to study and learn from.

I think the Reaper IFF is the reason the Normandy escapes Earth if you ask me. As for EDI, i dont think they have time to remove her since it could very well make the ship nonoperational for all they know. They problay use her to upgrade the ship so they dont **** things up with it.

"What AI?" Posted Image

I have a feeling that EDI is smarter than your average bear and considering any military organization (real or fictional) getting their hands on her, well they would not handle her properly. So, I would think that she goes silent until it is time for Shepard to take back control. Who would be dumb enough to say "Alliance meet EDI, EDI meet Alliance?" Okay, maybe Kelly, but she isn't Alliance. But that doesn't matter because Samara is taking her out the back way to avoid her babbling anything.

So, once again I ask ...  "What AI?" Posted Image

Truth is, you have to leave EDI behind on earth during the invasion, and throughout the game, Shepard is plagued with visions of EDI going crazy. Then you learn that EDI has the information needed to defeat the reapers once and for all, and towards the end of the game, you have to get on a husk infested ship, where the visions get worse, and a reaper starts telling you how useless it is for good measure.

Nah, just kidding.

I feel bad for her honestly, I mean the Alliance is stripping her down after all.

I say that they'd keep it installed, and keep it quiet since Hackett will no doubt tell them to. No sense in getting rid of both useful intelligence, and a reasonably sane AI

The way she talked about being integrated with the Normandy after joker freed her, to me it would seem like someone ripping your soul out of your body and putting in another one.
