Anyone ever see that you could choose which person, Bethany or Carver, in the future?
I highly doubt it, but to be honest, I would love the idea.
I've never been one that's enjoyed playing a mage (just not my style.)
So I've beaten the game 4 times, all with melee. Naturally that means I've never played through with Carver... Though I think it would be neat with his little brother problems if you could be right beside him swinging a big honking sword - better than him.
Casting spells beside your sister, or getting bloody in the trenches with your brother. I like the idea, but I know it's not going to happen.
Just wondering how many would like that...
Choose your sibling?

Carver is such a spooky brat.
I keep hearing that, but I've yet to actually encounter it due to my dislike of playing a mage.

Carver improves greatly post-Deep Roads. And by post-Deep Roads, I mean right at the final battle when he rejoins your party. In terms of character development, Carver was much better done than Bethany. His character develops over the course of the game (well, he basically about-faces at the final battle) while Bethany doesn't really change*. But yeah, Carver is a douche for 95% of the game when you have him, which is a bummer.
*Hilariously enough Bethany at the final battle says "I resented you sending me to the Wardens" when she doesn't really express that feeling explicitly, so when she jumped it on me I was like "WHAT?!?"
edit: Why they lock in your sibling is entirely a gameplay thing. They wanted to make sure your party composition was balanced going into Kirkwall, so if you're not a Mage, Carver goes since you guys fill somewhat similar functions, and if you're a Mage Bethany goes since she's redundant. That being said, I prefer Bethany a tad more...not because of her looks or anything

I'd rather play as a warrior fighting alongside Carver. Bethany's fine, but Caver is awesome. He'd be even cooler without the pressure of having an apostate older brother who out-shines him. I just like warriors more than mages these days... it was the complete opposite in DA:O, strangely enough.
To be fair... Carver might still have some jealousy issues, but I have a hard time seeing him remain antagonistic towards an older sibling who is not a mage.

Do it, he has interesting character development, and he gets funny lines out of Varric and Isabella (who doesn't ?).

I would have to say.... It would've made the game better. So yeah I agree on the fact that they should've had a choice.

I'm no really saying that they should have done it like this, one way or the other, but I would like if soon they gave you the option. Something along the lines of; You've played this enough that you know what you're doing, so you get the option.
