I bought the physical game at Best Buy though, so it sounds like yours is more a digital distribution problem, sorry I can't help you with that.

Copying the save file over to my XP32 setup will allow me to get past the hangup, and then I can copy back over to Win7 to continue just fine. I'll get through several other cutscenes, then eventually run into another case where I get stuck in a hard-lock case until I get past it on my XP32 setup again.
There is something really wrong with how this game interacts with Win7 64-bit. I have no problems with any other game that I've tried.

Those of you saying that you're running it with no issues might consider the case that many of us have run into. When I originally installed on my Win7 64-bit setup, it seemed to be working just fine. However, I have now gotten pretty far into the game, and I run into intermittent issues where cutscenes (only cutscenes) will begin to stutter until my system entirely locks up.

Running on Win7 64-bit Ulitimate here too, not a single problem since i reinstalled DA:O with stuttering, locking up, ctd or anything, so i would give reinstalling a try, maybe something borked in the reg files that is causing issues for other people.

I do have the toolset installed, so maybe that's causing some problems. I have the toolset installed on my XP32 setup as well, and I have no issues there at all.JamieHeather wrote...

You don't tell what chipset you're using. Also, do you have the toolset installed?zacrobmer wrote...

Anti-virus programs and viruses and spy-ware can do the same thing. Try clearing your temporary internet folder. If you are running Windows OS try this site. It actually is very very good. You might try a different antivirus program. AVG Free Edition and Avast Home Edition are great and take up way less computer resources than Mcafee or Nortons.

You only need to run the Cleanup Scan.
Download and run a program called Malwarebytes. It is an extremely good program for removing malware.
You also should check your startup items and remove any and all you don't need. You do this by going to Start and typing "msconfig" and unchecking all the boxes next to items you don't need running in the background. Google any item that you are unsure of. Nearly all startup items can be removed.
Make sure you have the latest Windows 7 updates as well.
After you do all that try backing up all your saved files and uninstall and reinstall if you still are having problems.

There is no chance that I have any malware on my system. I'm leaning toward the toolset or some DAO bug that just doesn't hit everyone the same. I basically installed Win7 early Saturday morning, then copied my save games over from my WinXP32 system, and started playing. By sometime on Sunday, I started having the cutscene hang issue, but only with cutscenes that automatically start right after a battle ends.
I'm thinking there is something busted in the way the game handles the transition from battle to cutscenes. Since a spell, such as Blizzard, will continue through the duration of the cutscene, I'm thinking something about the combat engine doesn't properly shut down before the cutscene starts. There may be something going on there that causes the game engine to bump all cores to 100% while something goes off into the weeds.
