I agree, some of the hairs do look weird in this medieval based world, they're not all bad but BioWare kind of skipped over some of the basic long hair styles one would expect in the Dragon Age world.

Could always add them in DLC, just
like the Sims. Only 750 Simpoints each. Oops, I better not have said
that aloud, some EA rep might overhear and get a lightbulb.
Uh yeah, Micropayment in a full priced single Player RPG. Sounds so wicked - could become true...

Bioware's not so good at hair, they won't tell us why but I suspect it's partly due to the engine.

Too bad you can't see the tip of your elf's ears when you choose a long hairstyle for her... I do like some of the hairstyles but I think more options would have been cool. Hope some will come out eventually and for free.

i was dissapointed with tha lack of the "short mohawk" which was in nwn 2, though i AM happy that they got buzzcut, so im fine, also there were many hairstyles that looked nearly the same? but hell they will add more with expanisons.

I was pretty much able to make my character look exactly like me, accept for the haircuts. I wish there were at least length adjusters for the existing hair, because the style I choose is close to my own, but just way too long.

I'm also dissapointed with the hair, i mean, they didn't even have an option for hair like the pc character in their own sacred ashes trailer. For that matter they didn't have any hair options similar to what their concept art of the various hero origin portraits. Did you see the cool wavy long hair on that human noble? Why the hell wasn't that hair included??

So ... braided hair is "highschool" but weirdo punk styles would be "adult"? Am I the only one who laughed at that?
It has been said many times that long hair is inconvenient because of the problems with clipping and the lack of animation making it look like a "helmet" rather than actual hair. Your "mane" would be no different from the existing long (female) styles in that regard. Looks decent when not moving, but when in motion they are bound to look damn silly. And a mohawk would certainly look no less overdosed on gel than some of the existing styles.
That said, yes, the selection is a tad limited and the concept art styles definitely should have been included. Also, I wish there were more female hairstyles with the hair pulled back because elves whose ears don't show are hard to take seriously as elves -- especially because elves and humans in this game have no distinguishing features otherwise.

Well elves are shorter than humans. That's pretty distinguishable.

I'm cool with the hairstyles for the most part. But it would be nice if Bioware added 5-10 extra hair for males and females in a patch. I believe it would garner some goodwill for Bioware. But devs rarely ever go back and touch character creators after launch so I wouldn't be surprised if they don't. But it would be a nice gesture for sure.

I was pretty content with the buzz cut.
I do agree most male styles seemed very similar though.

I was also a little disappointed with the selection, but other then the thread starter I would have liked rather more stylish hair, curls or even gel. Or at least shoulder length hair that doesn't just fall straight down the sides of her face.
It's my fantasy, dammit
But as Korva pointed out, good hair is still hard to make on video game characters.

I was disappointed with the lack of hair styles for both male and female, selection was more of, which ones I disliked least. I'm not sure what is doable with the mod tools, but hopefully we will see some new styles come out of it. Would be great if some of the people that modded Fallout3, did some work here..FO3 had TERRIBLE default hair but the mod community added some truely great options.

Yes I am disappointed with the hair styles, as well.
I spent ages last night, trying to decide on which hair cut for my Dalish Elf and just couldn't find one that I liked.
Hopefully, Bioware might add a few more haircuts in a patch.

I have to agree, the male hairstyles are terrible. Most of the longer hairstyles look like misguided 80ths glamrocker. Also the braids (most right hairchoice) is horribly flickering during cutscenes for my elf char.
Besides did anybody notice the discrepancy between the npc and the player created elf ears? The npcs have much lager ears that stick out a lot more.

I'm just peeved at the severely limited selection of hairstyles and hair color! I wanted green hair..
