Yeh ... good thing Zev came back, because my mage's party was extremely lean after Carver joined the Wardens (thanks for coming back, tho, bro!)  Isabella ditched her, Fenris turned on her, Sebastian stormed off swearing to go to war with her ... although Cullen, Aveline's husband, and other itinerant folks who did not know Hawke well (as well as her companions at any rate) apparently felt sorry for her and assisted in the final battle.  Apparently my mage Hawke annoyed the h*** out of just about everyone who traveled with her except Aveline and Varric (well, and Anders, who was obviously not himself, so I don't count that).  Thank Heaven for the good will of her faithful Mabari!  If she didn't have him, I'm sure she'd give up entirely after her fiasco of failed relationships.    No wonder she disappears a couple of months after all's said and done in DA2.  I hope she took her Dog!

- Cullen (who's mandatory)
- Dog counts if he's out during the fight.

As Meredith health lowers, additonal people join in this order of priority:
- Bethany/Carver
- Varric
- Anders
- Aveline
- Fenris
- Isabela
- Sebastian

Obviously that assumes they're not in your direct party, are still allies and alive.

After that the number is filled out with the cameos in this order:
Donnic (If Aveline in party)
Zevran
Nathaniel

So in my first playthrough, All I got noticed from the cameo list was Donnic. Because I had Aveline in my group and was down one party member because Anders was Murder Knifed. I didn't see Zevran and hadn't known he could show up until my wife's first playthrough hit endgame.

I doubt Zevran will die any time soon (and not in a lack luster underwhelming fight like this), they are obviously planning for him to take over and control all Antivan Cells. He's being the mastermind that he is.

I'm guessing because you did his quest and helped him? He came to pay you back it would seem.

Yeah I helped him. But to me it doesn't make any sense (well... the final battle doesn't make any sense with Darth Meredith)... I mean I helped him and he says something like "ok I'll be on my way" then shows up in Kirkwall at the final battle. I can understand for Donnic since he is married to the Captain of the Guard who is involved in the battle and he is a guard too. I mean, he was in Kirkwall and fougth his way. Cullen is obvious. Nathaniel, unfortunately he died in Awakening so I can't comment. But I don't know, when I saw Zevran join the battle I was happy to fight with him, but seriously asked myself what the hell he was doing there.

Maybe I'm being too harsh about the finale.... (from the moment you chose your side, 7 years of frienship going to dust with some companions and whatever side you chose, you have to fight a Guiness Record of blood mages and demons (hey I chose to help them!), Orsino or whatever abomination demon summoner he becomes... than a Jedi who animate statues)

What if you wait and summon dog till' all eight are present, will the last one disappear again, are you unable to summon dog, or does he then count as a ninth?

I haven't tried it but I'd imagine once everyone is out on the field it wouldn't matter if you summoned the dog.

Thanks, I've never had Don or Nate join the fight, i guess the times where i had Zev join i didn't have Aveline in the party..

I'm not sure if they appear in that priorty tbh.
Last game the first one that apeared to show up from nowhere was Sebastian.
I may have missed the others, but McShinyarmour was the first I saw.

Yep load up the end game save, exit your mansion.
If Carver is back in the party menu as an option I dare say he's alive.. at least for dlc.

The next game may have a bug though with this.
Import your save and it turns out Zevran has a flag based on whether you killed him or not in chapter 3.
That flag get flagged when meredith kills him, despite not meaning to do so, and the fact you had no say in his appearance.
I can hear the rage from here.

Its realistic at least... looks like I'll have to do some babysitting in my next playthrough.<_<

Are you certain you don't have your characters mixed up? I don't believe Zevran appears anywhere in DA2 outside his one questline. There was a minor glitch in the final battle which made my brother's hair turn white (texture failed to load), maybe if your brother (or someother NPC if you weren't a mage) had the same hair model as Zevron, and it loaded in as white he might look a bit like Zevron there?

No, I was a rogue so i had Bethany and i saw completely it was Zevran, No matter what i attack i did, she wouldn't release him, There wasn't a glitch
