Seriously Bioware? As if it's not enough the caverns/sewers maps are all the same just with some doors sealed shut while others are open. And now we get a few items we can easily get from game mods (I see this is aimed at console gamers who can't take advantage of mods).
I prefer the evolving weapon fanmod - its free and the weapons grow in power with Hawke. Priceless.
On Xbox there's been the evolving weapon mod almost as long as the PC guys.
On the xbox you can change item and character models and change the properties of any item in game. Only PS3 users with encrypted saves couldn't make these items for their games.
Obviously PC offers a greater scope than any console for mods, but this type of stuff is v. basic.
Didn't I read that these DLC weapons upgrade as you level up anyway? Or do you mean something different by "evolving"?
Yeah, sorry - in this context I mean levels up with you.

Working up a sweat and having fun with friends is great. Sitting on a couch and watching people run around not so much.
At least you said basketball and football. Baseball and NASCAR ought to come with the same warning as prescription tranquilizers.
And you pay for your pr0n too? That is so *wrong.*Also, big sweaty muscular dudes grabbing at each other can be invigorating.

The difference is the appreciation of a game played at its highest level of skill. If you can appreciate the strategy and skill involved, it's interesting. If you don't care, it's dull. That applies to pretty much every spectator sport.
I can even appreciate baseball. There's a lot of strategic elements to baseball that aren't readily apparent, and if you know what to look for it can get really interesting. I don't usually watch it that often, but when I do I can start picking out interesting things.

I don't usually go unless it's with friends, and then it's about the shared group experience more than it is about the game itself. I will occasionally watch on television though. As I said, it's (mostly) appreciation for a competitive game played at the highest level of skill.

A better question would be why they want to watch others play basketball or football in the first place.

Don't forget the muscular sweaty dudettes!
But yeah sometimes the professionally made stuff is better than what can be made by the modding community

I can appreciate the skill and strategy, but I have no interest in appreciating it for hours on end. And even if I did appreciate it for hours on end, I wouldn't pay to do so in an unpleasant environment like a sports stadium.hoorayforicecream wrote...

This I understand. I can enjoy almost anything if I'm with a group of friends who are enthusiastic about it....it's about the shared group experience more than it is about the game itself.
Are there any armor/weapon mods out with new models?makenzieshepard wrote...

Yes, but the models are old, created as modders' resources for Origins modding.

The Arishok in particular made Varric feel inadequate.

@Luke Barret Quick question for you which I know you should be able to answer this one freely without given things away. Why is there only one Crossbow in the whole game and that is the one for which Varric is using? Didn't Bioware think that some of us players would like to have the opportunity to use a crossbow as opposed to bow and arrows? I persnally prefer a cross bow over a bow and arrow.

As someone who owns a Crossbow in real life and had competed in competitions, I sort of wish I had my own Bianca.
Some of those special abilities would have given me an edge.

I was curious due to the fact that this is one of the few games for which I've played that didn't have crossbows in it but Varrics. If memory serves me correctly even Baulders gate and Neverwinter Nights series of games had crossbows in them.
Luke do you know if they are going to bring back the dual weapon capability for warriors?

I bought it for the new mage armor in Act 1. Hawke looks better when he's not wearing robes that yell "I'M AN APPOSTITUTE, I MEAN APOSTATE!"ishmaeltheforsaken wrote...
I make mods, and I still bought the item pack. I think it's cute that people think anyone would buy this for the stats. If the items all used models from the vanilla game, would you still buy it? Well, some people would, but they'd be idiots. I paid for the new art, not the stats.

So these are armors they purposely decided to leave out?
I mean, I suppose if you were going to imagine that people are BioWare are evil and just like to mess with gamers, what you're suggesting would make sense. But in reality, if this was something they had sitting around at launch, then then would have released it at launch or soon after, not a couple months afterwards.
Oh, and the high resolution textures would already have been finished.

Why item packs?
Very simply, these were quite successful in both DAO and ME2 both in terms of sales and also usage data, indicating that the demand is there. So while we get that a lot of our forum users prefer story content (which we also enjoy, hence also working on that), make no mistake that there is indeed an audience out there that loves to customize their characters as well as do their replays with premium gear, so these have a place in our DLC plan. And while I would have loved to have us release a story dlc first, see above for why that was not possible.
Wait, let's not go saying these are equivalent. The weapons packs for ME2 have both a ltitle more content and are cheaper, making them a better value overall. Combine that with the fact that it's a lot easier to feel like we're being gouged since they're all offered seperately even though they were made at the same time, and you've got a product that turns off a large group of people. And DA:O had no paid weapons packs. If you're looking at how many downloads there were for The Edge and peeing your pants in excitement, you might have forgotten that that was a free DLC that everyone got... which makes sense, since it was just a thumbnail and some stats. Are you talking about that Feast Day junk? Did that many people buy that?

I'm glad Varric has the same weapon throughout the game. It makes it the only weapon in the game worth putting a rune in, since it's not wasted when you move on to a new weapon. Sadly, I put the idol-forged rune in it, and after seeing that it had an effect on Sandal, I'm worried about him now. Normally I'd say, "Well, BioWare can't make Varric go crazy from the idol-forged rune because you can put in any weapon. You can give that weapon to anyone, or put that in a box, or sell it." But seeing as Leliana had a fairy in a bottle apparently (for some people), I can't really rely on that. That said, it wouldn't matter if I gave it to Varric or not if BioWare was gonna steamroll us with that. So... nothing to worry about...
Anyway, the only thing crossbows were good for in DA:O was giving them to your mitten-handed warriors for when they needed to attack at a range. Now everyone has a set weapon type, so the crossbow kinda doesn't matter.
