Witcher II's first free DLC is 90ish minutes long and doesn't cost a penny/cent/dollar, yet DA2 fans are being asked to pay for a few items. It really says a lot about the different forces (EA) at work here. But in the end people vote with their wallets and I will not open mine for some items. I bought all of the DA:O DLC except the Feastday gifts/items. Considering all the items you get in-game and also from promotions I can't fathom paying for more items. Items should be a bonus in story DLCs (ie. Return to Ostagar) if anything IMO.
The items greatly enhanced my character and the characters of preference I use often. It's a shame you ignored the Feastday pack for DA:O because it adds massive affection points and powers to help in the story, particularly the dwarf and Morrigan- who is such a ****, and with unlimited gifts- she is 100& on your side, plus some comical things that are a light touch for the game, the affects of which can be reversed after.
In the case of a severely broken game like DA:2, I think the first major storyline DLC should be for free. It certainly would ease the blows of releasing a half-azzed game for BioWare loyalists, of which I am not and never will be
