This was amazing. I hope he's wrong when he says that something like this... with the imported saves and consequences... might never be done again.

Noooooo please. This is the best thing. The. Best. Thing.

Bravo, Bioware.

Encore.

Encore!

The best place to start is always the beginning itself but imo he is reffering to a recap story that gives new players introduction along with choices from previous games.

Ah, yeah. I'd forgotten about that briefly. I hope you're right.

Can't wait to see what gameinformer has for us tomorrow. At the bottom of the page made specifically for Mass Effect 3, it says, "Check back, 4/27/11". I watched the interview too, a sad thing they won't do it again. But, all the more reason why I can't wait for Mass Effect 3. Hope they give us more bits of information, this is pretty cool.

For a company that always tries hard to surpass itself, I find that very hard to believe.

The next part of the interview with Hudson, probably: "In the first of our series of interviews with Mass Effect's director Casey Hudson, we discuss the genesis of Bioware's sci-fi epic and the different paths that it could have taken."

Am I the only one who thinks GI will end this coverage with a brand new in-game trailer?

I thought that was this interview. The part where he talks about aliens or not, universe or a single planet etc.

Yes, please. This coverage is getting better and better with each new addition.

Not necessarily any new information, but certainly puts in a good reminder - trying to build a trilogy with an unprecedented amount of variable changes to a story from one game to another is complicated, expensive, but ultimately worth it.

And something that many an internet armchair critic forgets.  Kudos to the Mass Effect team for trying so hard to implement it in the first place - the endeavor alone deserves alot of respect.  I'm enjoying these vids from Gameinformer - they're informative without spoiling anything.   Looking foward to tommorow's vid!

Uh, yeah.  This was the first part of A SERIES.  Sort of implies there's a second part, no?

That would have been awesome but I doubt we will have any new trailer until E3.

Terrific interview, have always enjoyed listening to interviews with Casey Hudson.. I can remember the earliest ones way back even before ME1 launched.

I am deeply saddened though to hear Bioware likely won't try to make a trilogy like Mass Effect again where we can import our characters over... I fully understand the complexity & cost... but this is one of the things that made ME so grand and memorable.. we develop such attachments to the characters and the choices we made throughout the games... it is unlike any other RPG game / experience available.

To think there would never be another RPG game with the breadth and scope of Mass Effect is rather depressing to me... no lone RPG can explore characters and actions with the same scale and depth that Mass Effect has allowed us.. and that's because they took 3 games to do it.

Ah well, guess it means Mass Effect series will just have to stand as the greatest & most memorable gaming experience of all time then :)

I know that, I just misunderstood your post in that I thought you said the 2nd one will talk about the genesis and other directions the series could have taken.

I don't think we'll see trailer until E3. But it's not that long, 5 more weeks.

We'll probably have some sort of teaser a few days/weeks before E3.

Also... either now or when ME3 comes out, we should all write letters... actual physical letters... to Bioware telling them how much we love and appreciate the whole carry-over thing. Hopefully they'll hear us.

Now I'm all sad. I hope he was just saying "we don't know if it'll ever happen again" to acknowledge how hard it's been, not to specify that they've given up on the idea.

Yeah, ME2 had a trailer titled Prelude to E3 or something back in the day.

I'm sure when Casey talks about "it won't be done ever again" he's not reffering to himself.

There has to be, as ME3 will be a new game, not an expansion pack. I'm certainly not expecting six different love interests, however. I think it will most likely be the same as ME1, featuring only a few options.
