A lot of good companion items, and an odd selection of class-restricted weapons/gear.

The interesting items:

(1) Rogues get another nature dagger and another fire bow, which means the archery builds will stay the same, but it will be possible to build a pure nature rogue:

Beraht's Revenge
42 Nature Damage
one rune slot
+87 attack
+3 attack speed
Improves with level up
5% chance to regen 3% health

Hood's Message to the King
134 Fire Damage
2 rune slots
+13% critical chance
+32% crit damage
Improves with level up
+80 damage vs demons and undead

(2) Mages get a nice spirit staff. No mage expert, but maybe a minor sub-build can be made:

Mage
Malcolm's Honor
46 Spirit Damage
+3 to all attributes
+13% crit chance
+10 Stamina/mana regen
Improves with level up
+41 damage vs demons and undead

(3) S&S warriors probably get the most interesting (= build-changing) weapon of the bunch:

Edge of the Night
33 Spirit Damage
2 Rune Slots
+8 attack speed
+18% magic resist
+20 damagev s demons and undead
improves with level up

Some of the gear pieces are very powerful, but nothing strikes me as particularly interesting.

I don't have the DLC yet, only the detailed stats. However, the new items all have unique skins/models.

I think that this will mostly make Dex/Cun builds more viable.  +3 Attributes AND the +13% crit chance make it saucy.  It's also likely the only semi-decent Spirit staff for the endgame...because at that point random staves have higher base DPS than unique staves.

I'd say the mage companions did better than Hawke mage in the DLC. The mage hood is about the only thing interesting for Hawke mage.

Has the exact same problem as cold-blooded.  No rune slots = thumbs down!

Yea... did they forget to add 2 rune slots or something? Comparing it to the other weapons makes me wonder if it was an oversight.

Would've liked two additional staffs that cater to elemental and primal mages, too. Warriors and rogues got three weapons each(1H, shield, 2H, daggerx2, bow), no reason why mages couldn't get the same treatment.

Mage armor is really nice, though. Immunity to knockback on the gloves means you don't need to pump constitution so high if you aren't picking up Unshakeable.

Indeed. Overall, I think the new mage staff is inferior to rogue/warrior weapons offered. However, mage gear is by far the best of the bunch: both warrior and rogue armor strikes me as 'randomly overpowered', if you know what I mean. Just does not complement the existing gear well. Eh, well, it does make reaching 100% DR even easier for S&S, but is that really such a huge plus? :)
