I was wondering when I should split my saves if I want to have both a ME2 Save where i am faithful to Asley and one where I dump her for Miranda...

I should explain: I want to get "ready" for ME3. As such I intend to play both game again from start to finish with a decision tree that fit me as a person (and not me as a power gamer" trying to do everything right for max Paragon for exemple).

For ME1 there's no real choice except I guess if I romance Ashley then let her die or not but I don't intend to let her die so heh.

But for ME2 it gets more complicated, I do want a perfect mission where everyone survives but on the romantic front Bioware hinted that staying loyal to your absent partner in ME2 would bear fruit in ME3 and I'm curious about that but I'm also curious about a romance with Miranda (missed the boat on that the first go round).

So again, what's the latest point possible I can take my ME2 game before I have to split my save into "Loyal" and "Mirandized"?

If you want to save everyone, then you should save right before the Reaper IFF mission, and put a few N7 missions between your save and the actual mission so you can go through all the dialogue. I'm not sure how many times you have to talk to Miranda before she wants to sleep with you, but it's probably like... 3.
