I don't pre-order games, but I buy some on the day of release. Same thing, I guess.

And yes, I'll likely buy the next one the day of release, too.

Don't like the direction Bioware is going with their games. No more preordering for me.

Ill preorder another game after I finish rubbing broken glass, sand and lime juice in my eyes, then I will have officially come up with two equally bad ideas in one day.

I became very cautious of DA2 after a number of interviews and previews were released that hinted the direction that this game would take. I still preordered the game, but only when I was able to do it at a heavy discount. I managed to get the signature edition for half the price I would've normally paid.

After playing and finishing DA2, I can safely say that I'm glad that I was a bit more cautious with this game. Mass Effect 3 I'll preorder without thinking twice. However, when it comes to DA3 I'll hold off any full price purchase until I am sure that they've gone back to the design of DA:O and left any trace of DA2 behind them.

Yes. People will pre-order Bioware games.

We call these people "marks" or "fools". :P

oh em gee differeing opinions they are stupid because they don't agree with me lololol

Yeah people will pre order from Bioware. One faulty game doesn't turn the entire fanbase on its side. DA3? Yeah I'll pre order. Extra goodies and I can get it ASAP? Sure, why not.

I'll pre order games of BIO I want to play. That means I plan to pre order ME3, and I plan not to buy SW MMO anytime soon.

I probably will since I liked DA2 overall, and enjoyed the extra stuff I got with the signature edition.  Besides, Mass Effect is made by a different team, so it doesn't mean that problems from one will carry to another.  Yes, lots of things from ME were used in DA2 like the dialogue wheel and the companion armors, but it's still made by different people.  And more importantly, I don't feel burned by pre-ordering.  I purchased the PC version while it was still listed at $50, so I actually saved money by ordering early when I knew I was going to buy it anyway.

Nope, but I probably won't perorder any game from now on.  If Bioware can fail me miserably then there is little hope for others.  Seems like the reviews that aren't written by shills seem to come out a couple weeks after release.  I'll wait for those next time.

How did people get burned on DA2?

Two patches and over a month after release and some of us still can't legally play our pre-ordered game because of the DRM issues?

Yeah, I guess Bio didn't discuss ahead of time how they were planning to have a DRM screwup.

What is this DA3 you speak of? As far as I can tell, no plans have been announced to create a third installment in the series. I suspect, as pre-orders can no longer be counted on to make up the bulk of sales, and a 3 month development budget will not yield a viable game, that no such game will be produced by Bioware. Move along. Nothing to see here.

Personally I bought the marketing hype that claimed the story would be shaped by my "every decision" and that I would "determine" Hawke's rise to power. My decisions only influenced the fate of companions and were irrelevant to the final decision of who to support (which was the only decision that affected which ending you get); I didn't get to determine anything about Hawke's rise to power because there was only one path leading up to each plot event at the end of each Act.

I trusted Bioware, expected Bioware, got Molyneux instead. Doesn't mean DA2 is a terrible game, but a burn's a burn.

Early interviews with laidlaw already had him confirming that quest flags from DA:O and DA2 will be carried over and he intends to continue the direction he took DA2 down in DA3. No official announcement for DA3, but pretty obvious implications they intend to make it.

Answer to the OPs question: After DA2 I won't preorder again - except ME3 as I want to know how it ends (and I really hope Arrival is no indication of the direction ME3 will take).

No, I will not preorder from BioWare again until they do something to prove to me that they are improving their sales practices. Thus far they have, for quite some time.

It depends on the product.

I'll probably pre-order ME3 as soon as I have the chance. It seems to be coming out pretty well.

As for Dragon Age? No.

Bluntly NO.

From now on I will carefully see what the users have to say about the game before even considering buying.

Since it seems you can just pretty much throw wads of cash at many "professional" game review sites and expect great reviews.

Yeah, I thought DA 2 was a decent (good even) game. Don't get me wrong though it was rushed and had a few major disappointments I agree.

Personally if there were no recycled environments, a more joined better storyline and a more lifelike/changing Kirkwall then I'd be happy (less repetitive combat would also be a plus)

EDIT: I didn't find the voiced protagonist bit or any of the changes to Rpg depth to be a disappointment at all, a lot of it actually has it's perks and in the future of gaming it will pay off, faster fluid combat that is actually BALANCED is good

(trust me, Origins tricks you into thinking that all its stat changes in items and all the buff abilities actually do something but a lot of them work on really stupid logic and rules which sometimes make them useless, if you actually read through the game files like me you'll realize that Bioware actually did a bit of a shoddy job with Origins in terms of combat balance)

I will pre-order ME3.

As for other other Bioware games, I'd need to know a little more about them before I'd pre-order. If I liked what I'd hear, sure.

I would go so far as to say I am holding off pre-ordering a lot of games. I payed the $60.00 for the pre-order on steam, because I thought to myself "No matter how bad it is, at least I will only be paying $60.00 for it, rather than the usual $100.00-$120.00 in stores in Australia (yeah, we are boned by high prices and moronic ratings systems!)

I wanted to like the game, and I tried desperately to like the game! Heck, I even played through a second time, hoping that perhaps there was something amiss, that would bring back that old DA:O feel...

Fifty odd hours of forcing myself to play, and I still feel like that $60.00AUD was a massive rip off. It has left a sour taste in my mouth. A big one. So much so, that it has spread to even other companies (Someone above mentioned Skyrim... I'll be holding off for a few weeks on that one)

And as much as I love the ME franchise, (as I loved the DA franchises) I will be holding off buying until a) user reviews are in, and B) prices drop to about $50.00AUD through somewhere like play asia...

I think now that I am old, have a mortgage, a wife, and a tonne of bills, I won't be pre-ordering anything ever again. Unless, of course, it is from Obsidian. B*tch about the bugs all you want, I still think they make fantastic games, with deep story lines, and I will pre-order their stuff too. Heck, I'll even pay the $140.00 AUD for their crazy collector edition stuff... cause I <3 Obsidian... the same love I used to have for another company...

DA2 was the first time I pre ordered. Not just from Bioware, from *anywhere*. I always was the guy who waited until the game was out. In the BG era it was money and time considerations. With DAO it's because I at least wanted someone to make some headway with a Let's Play before I decided to buy. With ME2 I didn't cave until after Kasumi's DLC came out.

But I ignored the doubters and haters and pre-ordered DA2, Signature Editon. I figured, saved me the trouble of getting Sebastian separately later.

Lesson learned.

Yes. I surely will preorder ME3 and DA3 (if it will be released). DA2 was rushed and had some misleading marketing, but I've played it through twice and enjoyed it. Money well spend, I think. Especially compared to often praised Witcher, that, by the way, also has fixed, voiced over protagonist. I have yet to find patience to finish that left-click-click-click game.
