Yes, ME2 save consists of:
- Version (29 for ME2)
- Debug name, timestamp, current level, ...
- Level, streaming, kismet, door and pawn records
- Player object (appearance, abilities etc.)
- Henchmen (squadmates) objects (abilities etc.)
- Mass Effect 2 Plot table
- Mass Effect legacy plot table (copied from ME1 save, used only by importer)
- Galaxy map (visited planets, location of probes etc.)
- DLC list
- CRC32 checksum (that's why after hexediting you have to use a save editor)
If you want to know more please download SFXGame.7z from my site, it contains extracted UnrealScript files (most important files: SFXSaveGame.uc and SFXLegacyData.uc).
Importer copies some ME1 plot flags into ME2 plot table.
