Nice work Epic Legion! From what I'd read before I too wasn't sure they'd ever done the actual animation or scripting for the Paragon side of the quest. Very cool to see it actually played out.

As it is, ME2 has no way to know how you persuaded Conrad because ME1 thinks you charmed and intimidated him.

I thought the flags were set correctly in ME1 if you Intimidated him? I.e. the Renegade flag is checked but the Paragon is not, whereas both are checked if you Charm him. And therefore it should be possible for the game to tell, though it might require some unorthodox scripting.

How the hell....
I thought the Paragon Conrad was only in the unused audio section of the games files, how'd you get the game to play it? (is it a coding fix or did you manually create that scene?)

In fact, it's only a "flag" problem that BioWare did not see. So all the dialogue and scene are already in the game. The only problem is they never play because everybody is by default flag as "intimidated".

No, for the nth time, ME1 flags BOTH, and this carries over to ME2.  Bioware chose to use one version over the other because that was the simplest route, and for whatever reason that was the Renegade version.  Fixing it would have required patching ME1 and/or putting in a manual fix via dialogue or something, like with our choice of Councilor.

No, both are always flagged.  I've imported Shepards who've Initimidated him. Makes no difference.

Didn't read the whole thread, but couldn't I apply your fix and then convert the Xbox save to a PC save with your converter?

You can also use an updated version of the Gibbed Save Editor to do that.

k...got my answer. Bioware can caulk it up to Conrad being whacky. i mean...i wonder if the dude was actually married....and if not..it is funny his wife gave him the creds to get away from her. dude needs serious psychological help.

a fix for the console is overrated...imho. if i had a pc i wouldnt mind it though

You are a GOD. After following your tut, I was able to watch the scene unfold on my 360. My fem!Shep Grace got a surprise ****-slap out of the blue, but even that didn't deter from the epicness I just witnessed; in the words of Doctor Chakwas: THAT WAS AWESOME! If only Zaeed would've been the one to pipe in and say something afterwards instead of Jack (total Zaeed fanwoman ova here, yes-yes!), but that's what re-loads are for. Posted Image

Thanks much, serah!

Nice work Epic Legion. Shame Bioware didn't hotfix ME1 as soon as they noticed (I dunno if Microsoft has control over that or not).

I don't think people should worry about it messing up ME3. Bioware knows Conrad is renegade either way in ME2, so they probably will just have ME3 ignore the flag altogether since it's broken.

I tried this on the PC with a save game editor but Conrad still acted like I stuck a gun in his face in ME1, which tells me both ME1 and ME2 on the PC are glitched on this flag. Bioware, being the awesome programmers they are, chose to create a work-around instead of fixing a simple problem. :P

Editing one ME2 plot table flag fixed it. I will release fix tommorow. Works on X360 and PC.

Look at question/answer #3.  Apparently they're addressing the problem in ME3 in some capacity.  :)

Then I wonder how Bioware is going to explain the part where Conrad died in ME1.

It only simple when you completely ignore context: that they'd have to roll out two to four different patches (depending on when they first caught the bug) on two different platforms (one, the primary platform, being a red-tape-entangled console.  Not to mention, they'd have had to deal with Microsoft Game Studios too, since they own the rights to ME1 on the 360) in order to fix it. Or they'd have had to put some sort of method into ME2 (likely involving dialogue which means more VA work, extra cinematic design for the conversation, etc.) for manually selecting the outcome, like the Councilor choice.  And all for a rather minor part of the game.

Yes, they had talked about Conrad in the press and it was rather jarring and annoying to have it happen, but realistically, that's what it was: minor.  Very much so.  And what that translates to is "Not worth the time or money that could be spent on other, more fundamental things." And that is of course what matters in the end.  Budgets and schedules are limited.

Just found another interesting flag. After enabling it I received email from Cpt. Kirrahe.

From: Captain Kirrahe

Shepard:

Glad you're alive. Hoped rumors of death were exaggerated. If Virmire couldn't kill you, I doubt much could.

Got word from Mordin that he's active again with you. He requested some classified data to help with countermeasures for stasis field used in the human colony attack. I worked with him on Special Tasks Group. He's a good agent. Nervy for a tech. Bit of a cloaca, though.

I didn't get permission to investigate attacks on your human colonies, but I'm asking around anyway. If I find anything useful, I'll send it your way.

Hold the line,

Kirrahe
