I have a very bad feeling this new james sanders guy is the same james ashley said she liked in an e-mail she sent to her sister the shadowbroker intercepted as quoted below, if so then I hope we have the option to straight shoot him in the face when he looks at her the wrong way. your thoughts?

"James left today. He's been reassigned to one of the new Rapid Response Bases out in theKepler Verge. Lucky bastard. It's like the ancient west out there — pirates and slavers coming out of the Terminus Systems all the time. He gets to play the cavalry, riding out in frigates any time someone's house gets burned down.

I made some speech about how he was a valuable asset to the squad and he better make us look good out there, blah blah. I suck at speeches. I was cribbing from something I read back in history class. I don't think anyone noticed.

I'm going to miss him. Don't tell anyone.

So you think James is cute, eh? Yeah, well, when you said I should "go for him" — not gonna happen, kiddo. See, we have rules about "fraternization". You don't do The Deed with your fellow troops, especially if they're under you in rank. There's all sorts of problems that can happen when two people in the same unit get together.

Let's say your unit is in a tight spot. Some bug-eyed aliens are going to overrun the galaxy. They eat babies, smell bad, and don't have elbows. Nasty. You're told to guard the rear. To let everyone else escape, someone is ordered "hold this spot until we're gone." Someone has to be left behind. You think it's going to be someone you're sleeping with?

I've served with these guys for eight months now. Yeah, some of them make me feel tingly (and yeah, James was kinda scruffy-cute). I hope I never have to decide who lives and who dies. But if I have to, my decision can't be muddled up by magic-sparkly-hearts-and-stars feelings.

Anyways, I'm gonna knock off here. I've got dog watch in a few hours. Want to get a shower and a meal before then. Talk to you tomorrow.

- Ash "

Maybe. And I think you just caused panic in the hearts of many a Ash fans, but I would assume the name James is still quite a popular name come the time of ME3.

It is a biblical name, which always tend do be some of the most popular.

If it is, this just exacerbates the whole "everyone knows everyone" syndrome that the ME series has suffered from.
Seriously what are the odds of so many of the characters knowing each other already? There are trillions of sentient beings in the galaxy and yet we keep running into the same 50 or so.

Ashley knows another man!

uh-oh!

James is actually a pretty common name, ya know. Though it wouldn't surprise me if they decided to link Sanders with the guy for the hell of it.

It's the force obviously, Mass Effect is obviously the Star Wars universe before it became Star Wars.

Think about it,  the Asari will evolve into Twileks.
Wookies are just fuzzy Turians.
The Volus will become the ewoks.
The Batarians are the pig men that hang around Jabba
ETC.

I'm really not down with the everybody knows everybody jazz. At all. Matriarch Atheyta hopefully was just getting a vidmail from Liara, Ashley better not know Sanders and so on.

It's kinda lame.

Honestly imo he can have her lol. Hated Ash in the first game and didn't like the fact that you can't really choose to be left alone. Liara is cool but didn't really want to have a relationship with her either. Really hated Ash though. To me she just came off as to much of a whiner. With any luck i can get her blown away in the first mission and be done with it lol.
For me it's go Tali, or go home! ;)

Doesn't matter to me, I left Ash for dead, and never romanced her should I let her live, hell let her and James rock the ship for all I care. I'll have EDI film it and sell it.

So you know I almost spit my tea out on my screen over this.

First off: Lol at the jealousy of a a bunch of pixels.

Second: The James she was talking about was referring to a Bioware employee named James who was moving to another Bioware division. So it's doubtful that it's the same person. Even so, it's a video game.

I don't much care for Ash, so he can have her...but it will be intersting as I have one playthrough from mass 1 that I romanced her...so as to see what happens...but I always went for Liara and most of the times I chose kaidan as the survivor...

But you have surely stirred a hornest nest for sure

According to the wiki, that email is actually a bit of an easter egg. There was apparently a technical designer named James working at Bioware who transfered to the the Austin studio to work on TOR, and one of the game writers slipped in that little blurb about Ashley's friend being transfered.

Aethyta+Liara, Wrex+Aria/Aleena, Zaeed+Vido Santiago, Mordin+Captain Kirrahe

Running into Shiala, Gianna, Fist, Helena Blake, Rana Thanoptis, Al'Jilani, Ish, Fade/Harkin, Nassan Dantius etc.

Just happening to have 1 of a couple hundred L2 Biotics on your squad and then running a mission where, what seems like, the rest of them have taken a representative hostage.  Or running into Corporal Toombs.  Or happening to run into Samesh Bahtia on the entirety of the Citadel when Ashley commanded his wife's squad.

There are simply too many coincidences stacking up.  Eventually it gets a bit ridiculous.

Would Ashley liking another dude really add that much to the characters anyway? Maybe a little but not much.

I can tell you from personal experience that something like this is not fun. I remember when I was in highschool one of my younger brothers stole (in the Biblical sense) my girlfriend. I was simultaneously proud and furious at him. I kicked down his door down and then punched him in the face. After which he broke a plate over my head.

We've been fine ever since. Just needed to get that frustration out, I guess.

I remained faithful to Ashley, but I'm fine with her shagging this Sanders guy as long as he gives me free chicken. Otherwise, I'll kill him, because this aggression will not stand.

Y'know, it'd be nice if you people would quit it with the "OMG I KILLED ASH/KAIDAN HAHAHAHA FEELS SO GOOD TO BE A SOCIOPATH AND BRAG ABOUT IT ON TEH INTERNETZ" crap.

So you killed one of them, whatever. Just let it go, please.
