I purchase the game from atari and got real cd keys, however it is averaging 5kb/s per second to download which would will take more than a week to finsh with all expansions.
is it possible to install the game from another source such as a torrent copy or from someone else's cd's and use my valid codes?
would i get banned if i tried to multiplayer with such a game or would it even connect with a torrent downloaded version of the game?

Unless you're in the middle of nowhere and downloading over 14.4 modem, things should pick up. It's not as if Atari only has 5kb/s bandwidth.

I think the only issue is ever CD codes, and I believe it's a problem if you use the same CD key as someone else.

the downloader finally started giving me some good speeds but the install on OC gave me an error with the direct x "error_dx_install" and the game has an error when i try to run it. i tried downloading and running directx 9 redistributable to no effect. i am going to try installing the 2 expansions when they download but if that dosen't fix it i'm just going to go with the version i know works.
