So I assume you also anticipated the metascore to be within the low eighties?

Or having to create a new forum to bypass some complaints?

Bundling Mass Effect 2 to sell more copies?

The 33% reduction in price on Amazon?

Never thought I'd see myself saying this, but I will never trust BioWare again.

I cannot even bring myself to complete this game, and I put 243 hours into Origins. What the heck happened to this company? (Rhetorical question: EA happened.)

As opposed to being a Bioware employee who of course have no bias<_<

For what it's worth, my experience was one of never having played Origins and buying DA2 on sale shortly after it came out. Then I realized I kind of didn't know what the heck was going on with the background of some elements of the story so I got and played through Origins. I found it to be such a superior experience and DA2 a huge step back and disappointment in comparison.

So sorry, no confirmation bias here. Maybe a comparison bias, but that's kind of to be expected with a direct sequel.

Isn't it a bit different when you actually look for information about a particular subject (like the game "Dragon Age 2") or actually experience this subject yourself (like playing "Dragon Age 2").

Or are you really trying to say: "Your empirical experience is wrong?" Because that would be absolute stu....;)

No matter your feelings and crashed expectations about the game, you are misinformed.

See Denial.

simple denial - deny the reality of the unpleasant fact altogether
minimisation - admit the fact but deny its seriousness (a combination of denial and rationalization)
projection - admit both the fact and seriousness but deny responsibility.[/list]

No I'm just pointing out your opinion is obviously wrong because you can't control your sphincter.  See I'm finding it easier to argue with some of you on the same level you choose to argue with others.

The old story is the same again, if bioware want to sell the game to a DAO player, they will market it as "just like origins but improved!, the changes are few i swear!" then when talking to the new crowd they will market it as "when you press a button..." you know the ending. You should never take the word of anyone trying to sell something to you as true fact, because there is an interest going on in making their product seem just like you want, so you buy it. In the same way, politicians speak to certain group of people about things they are interested in and concern them, to get their votes. You shouldn´t be surprised about this, this is as old as humankind started to trade and bargain goods.

This I don't understand. The poster states his opinion based on his own perceptions of the game and it's aftermath then someone attacks him, calls him a dirty name, equates his disappointment with gastrointestinal questions,  and in a later post tells him his opinion is wrong.

Was all of that really necessary because he didn't enjoy DA2 or disagreed with the moderator's post? How can anyone classify an opinion which is a peronally held view or observation, as being incorrect?

How would you feel if the situation were reversed? Have someone use the same words to describe you and your opinions about posts and DA2? Would your observation about controlling certain muscles and the dirty name calling be valid then?

Not to be rude towards the OP (I also am disappointed), but we've done threads like these to death....

Mine did not. And to say that I was on the fence pre-release would be putting it mildly. I was very happily won over. (Though not blindly. Not even DAO managed such a feat, heh!)

Hey, maybe you should change your thread title to "How all MY fears from when the game was announced came true..." because none of mine did.

If we're going to nitpick, he'd better change the title to 'How all of the fears of some of us from when the game was announced came true...'.

i thought it was very much like Origins, so does that make the game crap or does it mean that you just have a different opinion to me?

 Hm, I guess on this case both I and Mike Laidlaw would be amazed... 'very much like Origins'. I am keen to know what you mean by that. Laidlaw aimed to make it completely different from DA:O (at least that's what I gather from interviews), and personally I notice a lot of difference. So explain please if you want to?

well it had a group of people cutting a swathe through a medeival fantasy land, with similar armor, weapons and skills, albeit slightly changed (in my opinion). Obviously the story and setting changed but how much else really changed alot?

For myself I do not agree with the OP.

I didn't really have any fears until I played the demo; the demo totally made me frowny face. I found the combat to be a bit clunky i suppose; Bethany's voice makes my ears bleed; and I was concerned about the feeling of "why the hell should I give a crap about these people?" that the demo gave me in regards to my family and friends.

A lot of the "fears" aired and vitriol directed at BW I just dont see or agree with. Many of the things people said made me go "are you making **** up?"

An example would be when someone claimed to me that Companion interaction was lacking, sucked, and made them just not give a crap about anyone in the game.
I completely disagreed. The friendship interaction with Merill and Fenris could have been stronger but overall I cared about these characters by the end of them game. The characters I could have cared less about was my supposed family. There there was very little meaningful interaction to make me care.
Isabela and Varric crack me up. Anders is really sweet. Merill is adorable. And Aveline was totally my bessie mate/**** hag lol.

My complaints with the game came from other issues that i feel were more legitimate. The recycled areas for example. Or things we were promised but ultimately didnt get (different body shapes depending on class, a tactical view camera, auto attack, toolset update, etc).

It's truly a shame that someone would react like that to my posts. Instead of discussing the game sensibly, they prefer to opt for the vulgar road...

Which is why we should always measure things to determine whether we like them.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

Maybe I need to link to the other thread where this was the exact tactic you took with me unprovoked?
