My questions are has follows.

1. My xbox just red ringed and i lost the import function, luckily i had saves right before the boss, and now i can use them in mass effect 2. The questions is does mass effect 2 have this same problem? are the hidden import saves all gone and do i have to replay mass effect 2 again so i can import them to ME 3?

2. What save actually imports? I beat the game and then all the dlc came out. Would the import function take the last save of the career or the save right after you beat the final mission? because if its the final mission whats the use of playing a career that wonlt import it to mass effect 3.

To sum up does mass ME 2 have the same problem has ME 1? and is it worth it to play the dlc on already careers, meaning what save actually imports?

I would suggest asking the question again when ME3 is out when we have a clearer idea of how the import function for that works.

Or unless a dev chooses to enlighten us.

Venku, no one can answer you 100% because ME3 isn't out yet. However, I can make an educated guess based on existing info.

Note that the hidden save file from the end of ME1 is used for both ME2 import AND New Game +.

In ME2, you can use New Game + on any regular save file that takes place post suicide mission. We can therefore infer that it is a good chance that is how ME3 is going to import. It make sense really. It's the only way one could beat the game, then play post-game DLC or missions and still have decisions made post-suicide mission count in ME3.

I can tell you with certainty that ME2 does NOT use the hidden save function, which, if you ask me, is a very good thing.

In ME2, saves work normally, just as you'd expect them to work your average video game. This is evident in how you can continue playing post-ending and make further progress. If there was a hidden save function, chances are you wouldn't be able to continue post-ending, because the way such a feature works requires that you stop playing once the hidden save is marked. As in, once the hidden autosave is registered by the system, it accepts no further progress, as it is a non-modifiable type of save that is completely hidden from the user and is stored deep in the system cache for a specific purpose; namely, importing. This was the case with both ME1 and DA:O.

ME2 does not work that way at all; instead, it simply gives you the opportunity to play as you please once you've finished the final mission and will register any progress that you make and choose to save. A good hint at how ME3 will read finished saves from ME2 is to simply look at NG+ in ME2 itself, where you are presented with a list of finished careers and can choose from any number of post-suicide mission saves under each career. That is, most likely, how the ME3 importer will work. After all, the ME2 importer works in exactly the same way as ME1's NG+.

I have noticed something with regards to the import.  ME1 allows you to begin a NG+ with a character who's career you have deleted.  For example, I deleted my very first playthorough with a Vanguard, so I cannot load any saves from that character.  I can however start a NG+ with that character; it's available on the "use existing character" import.  That same character is not available for ME2 import, however. Only the careers that are still saved show up to import into ME2.  In ME2, you cannot begin a NG+ with a character who's career you have deleted.  No hidden character saves there.

Which only proves my point. ;)
