No offence m8, but you need to either replay as mentioned ME2 again or go read up on Mass Effect Wiki.

Okay, I'll get into it.
The pilot of that Geth ship was Salem the Cat from "Sabrina the Teenage Witch". They were trying to destroy it because the pick of destiny was on it and if Shep got it he would immediately make "Stairway to Heaven" look like crap and Alice Cooper look tame.
Awww Yeah.

In the derelict reaper mission, you are boarding a reaper that was killed millions of years ago to retrieve something called the Reaper IFF, that lets you go through the Omega 4 relay. It is not a geth ship. The husks are the bodies of Cerberus personell who were on a research trip onboard the Reaper. The geth is friendly - it does not try to kill Shepard, but defends him from the husks. The geth is not there to destroy the ship or kill Shepard, but to do research. The geth is incapacitated by husks at the end of the mission, when it is trying to hack the reaper's core to let Shepard off the station, as he is trapped in by the kinetic barriers. You destroy the mass effect core and bring the geth off the ship with you, before it crashes into the planet below. You can then either save the geth and reactivate it or sell it to Cerberus. If you reactivate, it reveals itself as Legion and it becomes part of your squad. Legion is one of the best characters in the game, story and personality wise, you're missing out.

It is topics like this that make me thankful that we no longer have posters coming onto the forums pretending to be characters from ME2. Would be only a matter of time before "Legion" showed up.
That's a shame, I've actually toyed with the idea of RP as an actual Urdnot, seeing as how the reason I chose my name was because I made a ME RP where I played a krogan called "Urdnot Orrad".

OK, this will contain spoilers, and I'm sorry, but it has to be done:

But in your avatar of Legion, I see an N7 armor?
Was he reponsible for blowing up the ship in the prologue and I thought Geth can't speak

Do yourself a favor CandleJack, buy Mass Effect 1. Beat it, then import the save game into Mass Effect 2.
Also Legion is arguably the most useful squadmate after Miranda.

He is clearly a troll. Check out his earlier topic on "Shepard in no longer invisible". It's locked, can't miss it.
Then you'll see it as clearly as I do.

I'm just trying to figure out the story and what I went wrong with recruiting the Geth cyborg. Wish they explain the aliens in the story.

And it was the Collectors which blew up the first Normandy. Not really a spoiler as such, but just so that we're certain on this.
