I know many people have killed flemeth but i am so so so HAPPY that I kill her!  So at lvl 14 with my rogue, Shale, Alisther, and Wyne i killed flemeth (really it was just my rogue and Wyne) on  Nov. 18, 2009 at about 11: 35 pm.

My rogue had on  fire resist drakescale armor and took warm palms or whatever like crazy. Shale and Alisther had to sacrife and distract flemeth while my rogue blasted it with arrows and Wyne on constant healing duty. roughly 4 minute battle. And now to go see how quick i die fighting the high dragon!B):):P

I'm thinkin you will be underwhelmed, but don't let me dampen your spirits...you could always "accidentally" lose most of your party members at the end to make it more dramatic :oP

I just had my rogue use 2x daggers with paralyze runes, flemeth was paralyzed most of the fight and whole thing lasted maybe 45 seconds. Melee rogues 4tw!

No, you didn't kill a dragon, young padawan. You killed Flemeth, a shapeshifter. Just you wait 'till you meet a REAL high dragon.. Flemeth is childsplay in comparison!

Huh? I thought Flemeth was harder than the High Dragon. Not by much, but still.

Agreed, in fact the game agrees too, my main character has killed Flemeth and a High Dragon (death blows) and my most powerful foe slain is still Flemeth.

Although I've only done both fights on seperate characters so far, I did Flemeth first try with no mage. I did the High Dragon with the honestly nerf worth Force Field making my tank invincible. Flemeth is definetly way easier, for me at least.

I must be doing it wrong. Flemeth ate my party for breakfast. Guess I'll bring more paralyze runes next time.

Well, for me Flemeth at L13ish was much harder than the high dragon guarding the Urn at level 19... :)

On my play thru I didn't kill Flemeth, what event triggers returning to her hut? I went back a couple times on my own but the place was deserted.

Black grimoire from the mage tower in Irving's room. Give it to Morrigan.

I wonder if Flemeth feels harder because you can't bring Morrigan along, and if you don't have Wynne at that point...?

Not to change the subject, but was anyone seriously disappointed after killing the high dragon when NO ONE on your team had anything to say?? My entire team, but me, went down in my first play through and when I did the killing blow and jumped off of it and everyone stood up, I expected some sort of "OMG, that was a dragon!" cut scene or something. But, nothing. I even talked to the members of my party and they had nothing to say.

A "That's why I lurve you - you can kill dragons!" out of Alistair would have at least been nice.

@XgietmayX

The mages(Morrigan&Wynne) did the most of the job for me... Stens job was to keep the dragon on him (I did wrong anyway - Sten was tanking with a 2h and dmg-specced), my rogue was constantly tail-swinged so he couldn't do much damage... Just do your best to keep your tank alive, freeze the dragon as much as you can (just when the cooldown goes down) and do magic dps - curse of weakness(or sth like that, didn't play english version) might come in handy in order to improve elemental damage. I didn't find this dragon too difficult, was expecting something like Firkraag from BG 2. And about Flemeth - she wasn't that hard too... although most of my group died (rogue and warrior) i tanked her with my dog, constantly healing him up with bandages... did it on 2nd attempt AFAIR :P

yeah that was what i expect i would have to do. I'm just trying to get alisther some better armor and get chain lighting since i think that would be the strongest single target damage or does crushing prison work on a dragon?

My party: Sten 2H tank, Leliana DW rouge, Morrigan DPS mage (with the single heal spell) PC Spirit healer Mage

Pre fight, place your party in a LARGE square formation (by using hold function) with the mages on one side and the melee on other side.

call the dragon (this should make it land in the middl of your party) then you can attack it form 4 sides and only your melee will be affected by knock back + only one will get hit by fire breath.

Your mages/ranged will be able to stand safe and do dps/heal.

Had every single party member alive at the end of the fight :)....

Hope this will help!

I think wow has spoiled my sense of difficulty in a game. If it doesn't take an evening of wipes, it's not hard -_-.

I killed the high dragon at level 14 on nightmare. It wasn't that hard, I just had 2 healers and micromanaged the **** out of the fight while alistair and zev kept steady dps. Took 2 attempts, b ut with the healing output of 2 healers, you can sustain that amount of damage intake pretty much forever without running out of stam (you cycle the rejuve/mass rejuv, obviously.... no potions needed!)

That said, even though the fight was easy, it was ****ing FUN.

I see some really cool fights coming out of mods for this engine.

would a weapon with bonus damage vs beast work on a dragon. In other words are dragon considered a beast

I'm going to guess no since there is a weapon that has a dragon specific damage bonus.

Am I the only one that thought the hardest fight in the game was the Galax revenant side quest? That was the only time I had brought two mages where I HAD to drop it to easy to beat the boss. I had to drop the high dragon to easy but that was only because I had brought three melee guys and one mage that wasn't really a healer. But with Galax I had my mage (spirit healer/blood mage) Morrigan (DPS mage with force field) Leilanna (DPS rogue with two decent, paralyze rune, weapons) and Ohgren (main tank, juggernaut boots, legion gloves, juggernaut breastplate, faithslayer axe with spell resistance and grandmaster electricity runes). I went in on normal and got pummeled. I went in on normal and micromanaged and got pummeled. I switched to easy, micromanaged, and ohgren was the only one left alive at the end. Given, I only had three health potions in the fight but STILL. My mage as a spirit healer/blood mage can solo just about every mob in the game, and I've never had THAT much trouble with a boss fight. I was blown away at how hard Galax was.

EDIT: I should mention that he was so hard because the usual combo that makes this game way too easy (taunt/force field) was useless against him.  He has an AoE dispell that got rid of force field about 2 seconds after I cast it.
