I read the GI's article on ME3 and I just realised that I didnt see alot of the squad for ME2 but I think I am positive when I conclude Thane dies, Would you people accept his son to take his place? Image IPB

Why does everyone always think Kolyat should take his place? Feron is the obvious choice to replace him

Why does he need to be replaced at all? We've got way too many potential squadmates as it is. Some of them need to go away and Thane is an obvious candidate.

Thought it would be obvious he was gonna die? Wasn't gonna last long anyway.

Agreed, though since Thane has about a year left I'd be happy if he went off in a dying moment of awesome in-game. Cutting character's out off-screen is just horrible.

i hope bioware doesnt cure thane. id get the impresion that dieing, or having an incurable disease wouldnt mean much, as long as your in a bioware game.

I have no interest in Kolyat on my squad.

Then again, I had no interest in Thane.

I think a better question is why would the writers actively work to undermine one of their characters' story arc by immediately replacing him with a cardboard cutout after his plot-death?

Recruiting Kolyat to replace Thane would be a truly horrible piece of writing.

His son?? for god's sake that boy was afraid of pulling a trigger. I can't imagine him facing waves of husks and I couldn't trust him to watch my back in a difficult situation. Seriously, would you pick him for a mission having garrus, paragon VS, liara, and maybe grunt, miranda, jack, etc... just because he is Thane's son?

he was dying. how is him being dead a surprise? lol
curing him would ruin his character since the whole deal was him coming to terms with it and reflecting on his life.

whats he going to do if he gets cured?

There's still ample time left in his span for at least a hurrah, if not full-blown squadmate status with a high probability of death sometime throughout the game.

OP, you do realize the entire point of Thane's loyalty mission was exactly that? To be prevent Kolyat from becoming Thane 2.0? That's why Kolyat will never join your squad regardless of Thane's status. Also, just because you can hold a gun and shoot it does not mean you qualify to stand up in the battlefield.

If he is dead (don't think he will be, killing a character of screen is cheep. He might be unable to fight tho) then no Kolyat should not take his place. He is a newb. Just cause is dad is a great assassin doesn’t mean he is as Thanes LM makes abundantly clear. Also Thane would come back to huant your sorry ass. He dose not want his son following his footsteps.

Yep and IIRC Feron wanted to join up with Shep at the end of LOTSB.

I don't expect anyone will take Thane's place. That would just be tacky to have another Drell assassin.

I will honor Thane's memory by snapping many necks.

You sound surprised!

I mean it's not like we already knew he had a terminally ill disease and had less than a year to live! Oh wait....

You saw how his son handled that situation on the citadel. You saw how pathetic he was with a gun in his hand. Shepard has recruited the deadliest people in the galaxy to fight an immortal race of sentient star ships allegedly waiting in dark space (claim dismissed) and you want Kolyat on your squad?
