Why does he need to be replaced at all? We've got way too many potential squadmates as it is. Some of them need to go away and Thane is an obvious candidate.
Agreed, though since Thane has about a year left I'd be happy if he went off in a dying moment of awesome in-game. Cutting character's out off-screen is just horrible.

Thought it would be obvious he was gonna die? Wasn't gonna last long anyway.
i hope bioware doesnt cure thane. id get the impresion that dieing, or having an incurable disease wouldnt mean much, as long as your in a bioware game.

Then again, I had no interest in Thane.

Recruiting Kolyat to replace Thane would be a truly horrible piece of writing.

I read the GI's article on ME3 and I just realised that I didnt see alot of the squad for ME2 but I think I am positive when I conclude Thane dies, Would you people accept his son to take his place?
His son?? for god's sake that boy was afraid of pulling a trigger. I can't imagine him facing waves of husks and I couldn't trust him to watch my back in a difficult situation. Seriously, would you pick him for a mission having garrus, paragon VS, liara, and maybe grunt, miranda, jack, etc... just because he is Thane's son?

curing him would ruin his character since the whole deal was him coming to terms with it and reflecting on his life.
whats he going to do if he gets cured?

Why does everyone always think Kolyat should take his place? Feron is the obvious choice to replace him
Yep and IIRC Feron wanted to join up with Shep at the end of LOTSB.

I mean it's not like we already knew he had a terminally ill disease and had less than a year to live! Oh wait....
