So before he dies I would like to see him write down his list of assasinations to clean up C-secs books. It would redeem him somewhat IMO. I didn't buy the my body and mind are separate and I am only the gun schtick.

I think Bailey knows the Drell Assassin Shepard brings with him has a high chance of being the one murdered all of those people, but they were criminals and gang members so they kind of had it coming.

True he has suspicions but he might not have done all of them and eyewitness accounts can be spotty. You know if you were a crime underlord and wanted to commit some murders then just pay someone to say "yeh saw a drell did it."

Why does he need to be replaced at all? We've got way too many potential squadmates as it is. Some of them need to go away and Thane is an obvious candidate.

I concur I hope ME3 is more about fighting reapers then establishing relationship again and again and again. More action and less talking.

The last thing my Shep would want is Kolyat taking her lover's/his father's place in her squad. The whole point behind Thane's loyalty mission was to stop him from following in his father's footsteps, more or less. Thane would haunt her ass somethin' fierce if she decided to bring Kolyat along for the ride. I can see it now...

"Hey, Kol! Since your pa's not here anymore, what say you, me and the rest of the gang go out and blow us up some Reapers?! After saving the galaxy from a bunch of sentient trashcans, I say we head on over to the Afterlife to celebrate; Maker knows a good sloshing's never hurt anyone. Hell, my treat!"

Yeah... that would go over well with Thane, dead or otherwise. Image IPB

Now, if Thane dies and he's replaced by Feron, I will punt a box full of imaginary kittens from Dallas to Detroit. Please, think of the imaginary kittens!

Why would he be replaced by Feron? As far as I know, Feron was just another Shadow Broker agent. Good combat skills, yes. But he's got nothing on Thane or Kai Leng

I liked Kolyat more than Thane but that may be because he was voiced by Raiden.

Well that sheds some light on why I can't stand Kolyat's voice.

No. His son just shot a guy, that's not exactly the sort of preparation it takes to fight against the reapers.

Silly kids. I have a copy of GI in my hot little hands, and it says that ME3 picks up a few months after the suicide mission. So unless you got Thane killed already, he's gonna be totally not dead in ME3.

ahh, happy days. I will have to go back and read it again, cheers =)

Feron should not be in the squad to take over Thane's role, because he has a way better task to do.

We know Liara's going to be in the squad, right? And as we know, she's the Shadow Broker. Knows everything, has contacts everywhere, etc. She probably would be more helpful there, in the Shadow Broker's base, instead of being on the Normandy.

But wait...no one knows what the Shadow Broker looks like. No one knows what the Broker sounds like.

And Drells have perfect memories, well suited to the task of gathering information.

That is what I think should happen, given what we know. Liara leaves the base, coming to assist Shepard in the fight against the Reapers. But she leaves Feron behind as the new Shadow Broker, or at least the one coordinating the countless agents and intelligence reports, etc, and passing everything along to Liara and Shepard. This is the only way I can come to terms with Liara being on the squad when I'd rather have her in the more useful role as Shadow Broker.

Sorry if this was posted in an earlier page or is just a common knowledge theory within the community.

Agreed, though since Thane has about a year left I'd be happy if he went off in a dying moment of awesome in-game. Cutting character's out off-screen is just horrible.

Yeah, either give a blaze of glory in ME3 or cure him in ME3.  Killing him off off-screen would be epic in lameness.

If Thane wasn't a major love interest, then killing him off-screen and excluding him from ME3 altogether would actually be a likely possibility. But since he is a fully fledged love interest, that's just not going to happen.

This makes the most sense, and something I thought of after talking to Feron post LotSB where Feron says something to the effect that he'll stay around to help Liara for awhile.

Plus, he was held captive/tortured over the course of two years by the SB.  I wouldn't be suprrised if he had long term health issues that could prevent him from fighting on the proverbial front lines.

Yeah, Feron was just an information trader who regularly did work for the Broker. He wasn't a combat type at all, really. In Redemption, he only has a basic pistol which, IIRC, he fires once.  I'm also pretty sure he didn't actually hit anyone when he did.

This.

I'm sorry, but disease or not killing Thane off without some sort of possible romantic conclusion wouldn't be fair to his fans. The information you receive from GI and any other magazine is only a fraction. Until BioWare actually shows Thane dying/deceased, the logical thing to do is remain skeptical.

If he is dead, I want a scene of his water burial on Kahje. With his sniper rifle resting on his chest.

I doubt any LI is dead or even missing come ME3 and no, not even Jacob. Their level of involvement in the story and whether they're full squad-mates is something else altogether though.

I read the GI's article on ME3 and I just realised that I didnt see alot of the squad for ME2 but I think I am positive when I conclude Thane dies, Would you people accept his son to take his place? Image IPB

No.

I want my Zen Buddist Drell Assassin not some Whiney 'Daddy Didn't Love Me' Thug completely unable to shoot an unarmed man from cover.

In all seriousness, Thane's an amazing assassin and close quarters fighter. His son's a young nothing with no training and unable to kill one person cleanly.

I'd rather have Joker rocking an assualt rifle on my away team than him.

Not really, as he's never demonstrated much in the way of combat acumen.  He barely does anything combat-wise in Redemption.  He pulls a pistol a couple times, and fires it once...without hitting anyone.  He also knees a guy once, who promptly kicks the holy hell out of him.

Wouldn't be surprised if he's the redshirt for ME3.

No one will be replaced. If anything, you lose most of the ground team in ME2 as squadmates and get a few new ones plus VS and Liara.

Personally, I support Garrus' friend from his story, Flex. That really would be fan service, but at least it's not another Asari shaking her ass at the screen. :pinched:

Like what's her face from Awakening? Where they pretended she was an actual character and really she was a redshirt?

I'd like that.....about the rookie guy. Sanders. I don't like the idea of just another grunt and a rookie one at that. But if Sanders hung around for the opening mission, asked his questions, got the newbies up to speed...and then tragically died.

Well, I'd like that a lot.

He wouldn't be any worse than Liara and Tali in ME1 who were never indicated to have any combat training beyond simple self-defense.

I really doubt that he'll die off screen - maybe if he wasn't a love interest, but he is. I also doubt that we will cure him - whilst we may find some cure for Keplar's Syndrome in general, but we won't cure him. He should go out with a bang, dying perhaps in a fight with Kai Leng, that would be incredible cinematic and, ultimately, epic. He shouldn't be replaced by Feron or Kolyat, because both are essentially pathetic, although Thane should tell Shepard to look over Kolyat in a sort of godfather-y way to make sure he doesn't turn bad.
