OK, I know this is a spoiler forum but I'll ask that you not spoil me (I'm covering my eyes and looking away so I don't see anything lol).  Just looking for one quick answer :)

I just want to make sure I haven't inadvertently romanced Thane.  I don't recall ever saying anything romantical but he just called me "siha" or something and I get the feeling I might've taken a wrong turn at Albuquerque.

Does "siha" mean he's going to show up in the Captain's Quarters here?  (I hate having to turn them down :(  )

The first Siha is fine. Just don't get in any deeper. Once he tells you the definition, you're on the track to romanceville.

At a certain point in the conversations with him, he calls all female Shepards who have gained his loyalty "Siha." It's not romance exclusive.

The romance with Thane begins with the "I want you, Thane" dialog option. If you did not choose that, then the romance will not start.

No, he calls you that anyway. You have to pick "I want you Thane" (after he talks about his dead wife, femshep has no shame) to romance him so you can't really fall into it accidently.

OK cool, thanks all!  (And yeah, I found that dialogue option to say "I want you" right after talking about his dead wife to be really... pretty awful.).

I'm safe then.  I actually would want to romance him (I definitely find him the most attractive of the options, I dig the voice and the intensity; he's a bit of a poet too ), perhaps in another playthrough, just not now.  Sure wish there was a more graceful segue into it though :pinched:

The actual line Shepard says isn't quite as blunt as the dialogue option makes it out to be.

Yeah, I think they just wanted to make it very clear that it was the romance starter. Still makes me *headdesk* tho.

It would certainly be helpful if the ME-team built some sort of 'intention-indicator' into the dialogue wheel for ME3, like Dragon Age II had, so you'd know if it's a romance line or not in advance.

If anything, an accidental romance is the last thing you'd want if these sorts of games.

Yes =) intention-indicator would be gold! Sometimes I just don't know if I'm flirting or not. Might just be me, that I'm not so good at reading between the lines but it would make my life easier.

Yeah I don't talk to people in ME1 just because I'm afraid of accidently romancing them. ME2 isn't as bad in that regard, but still would be nice to have the obvious flirt option like DA2.

What others have said. The romance actually only starts when Thane tells you what Siha means, not when he simply calls you that. That's when you're officially involved with him.
