My game keeps crashing on the Faith quest in act 3. I kill the group  of mages that ambush you, and then it always crashes either when the two guys are running up or after a few dialogue choices with Leliana. I havent had this problem at any other point in the game, i do remember a discussion thread a while ago about the act 2 quest for sebastian having the same problem, but i never experienced it there. I stopped playing the game a whle ago because of this bug, and i just installed patch 1.02 a little bit ago thinking that might fix it, and i'm still having the same issue. Any ideas?

I'm bumping this because it happens to me too, but only if Anders is in my party. I tried it again on my second playthrough and it did the same thing, so I went back to the Chantry, removed him, and it worked. I don't know if he's the specific cause, but something's funky about that specific part.

Has not happened to me. I do it first thing in act 3 with Sebastian, Fenris and Avaline. Repentance has been hanging since 1.04 but, tapping the ESC gets past that minor hang up. Faith is fine.

Now I'm getting the same bug too. Game freezes up right after I kill the mages, before the cutscene with Leliana starts.
I tried bringing Sebastian, Fenris and Aveline and it still didn't work. Also tried just Sebastian and still nothing.
Although, when I bring Isabela (import - slept with Isabela and Leliana, the cutscene skips the part where Leliana kills the mages and jumps straight to her recognizing Isabela), I get to start the conversation, but it freezes at the "when it falls to magic" line.

Patch 1.04 btw.

I give up. I ended up running the console to skip this part of the quest. Just be sure to kill the 3 blood mages and NOT the skeletons/demons so you have time to loot the bodies for the dlc items. Then pause in the middle of combat and run the console command. The Cloak and Dagger achievement is still acquired for those who are worried about not getting it.

I got stuck afeter the first dialog choice. I think it happen with every combination of characters. It is stuck at "loading..." forever.

1.04 patch, legacy / Exiled prince DLCs.

My game is having similar issues. Continues crashing/perpetual LOADING... screen after I kill the blood mages and their spawn in "Faith" quest of act 3. To have invested so much time and entertainment in this game and to come up on this brick wall is beyond frustrating. I've come to expect sub-par customer service and game value from Bioware... Utterly disappointed. Fail. Words do not suffice.

Fortunately for me the tech support provided was Manesh and Pranath! I should be so lucky that their English was passably comprehensible. After multiple attempts to LIVE CHAT with EA support they gave me the following advice:

1. Open/Run your game to your most recent save point and pause it.
2. Tab out and open your Task Manager. Click on the PROCESSES tab.
3. Right click on DragonAge2.exe file and set PRIORITY HIGH.
4. Next, click on DragonAge2.exe file and set AFFINITY - make sure all boxes are check marked (mine were already selected).

None of these steps were successful in helping me resolve this "loading/dark" screen issue so they gave me this link and pretty much said "good luck," Meaning, you need to UN-install then reinstall Dragon Age 2. You CAN save your character progress and the steps are outlined in the link provided.

BEWARE: editing your registry must be done with 'kit gloves' so follow the steps precisely!

I am still waiting for the instalation to complete so I don't know if this will work. I'll check back in to confirm tomorrow (hopefully). If this doesn't work I'm going to be livid.

Hey guys, im having similar problems, after i kill the blood mages / demons the game goes "Loading..." till eternity, reinstallation didnt solve the problem..

reinstalling several times still didnt help, any help?  or if theres no possibility of doing it the usual way, whats the console command to get this done?

Yeah, I would also like to know the console command - My game is broke at exactly this point, reinstalling, setting priority etc does not do anything for me

This happened to me as well to where DLC quests like Repentance and Faith (right before or after cutscenes), there will be a loading screen. With Repentance, I was able to use Esc key but as of right now, I am stuck on Faith with this unfortunate loading screen. 
Anyone have any suggestions?

I was lucky enough to have a autosave before I took the quest so I am still continuing the game as normal... just making sure I do not accept this buggy quest - Come on Bioware - please fix this quest!

 If you press esc quickly enough, you can get to the menu right after the fight ends.  Save the game.  Then re-load it, after a few seconds, the first dialog option of the conversation comes up, and the game then recovers properly.

If you press esc RIGHT after the fight ends, you can save the game. Re-load it, and after a few seconds, the first conversation dialog will come up. You should be good from there.

Ok.. i did the escape thing right after the fight.. it works up to a point.. I get half way through the conversation with lilly and it does it again.. no way to save and reload from that point..

I'm having the same problem with the never ending loading screen. I take some comfort knowing that I'm not alone, but I'd much rather have it fixed. I tried saving right after the battle and before it goes to the "loading..." screen and then reloading the game, but that didn't work.

It's outrageous that this package was released in August of 2011 and 8 months and a few game patches later they haven't solved this issue.

Is there any moderator that people have found to be particularly helpful in solving other problems that we could notify?

There is an established SOP for bringing up questions for the members here, outlined by me in the pinned sticky on top.  As best I can see today, no one whose comment has been added here, including the OP, ever made the choice to take this forum seriously.  We aren't Bioware here, we aren't EA.  EA is the Official Support, and is linked as "Bioware Support" from the bottom center of every page. 

Anyone determined to avoid following the forum's SOP, should just go straight to EA without pausing here at all:

same problem here, I think that the problem only happens if you import a save data from DA origins
this is my second playtrough and I have no problem at the first one because I didn't import any save data from DA orgins ( sorry about my poor english)

I've finished half-a-dozen playthroughs, (and several more partials.) All with an imported world-state from DAO/A/GoA/WH. 
Never experienced anything like this.

I contacted Tech Support regarding this issue. They stated that I should clear my Temp folder as well as stop any processes other than taskmgr and explorer. I did all of those things and the game still freezes at the same points everyone else is having issues with: 1) after the blood mage fight 2) during the conversation with Liliana. I also tried the Esc save after the blood mage fight and that only worked up until a point in the conversation with Liliana. Clearly tech support is not sure how to fix this so asking fellow players is the only recourse we have Gorath so it would be nice if you were not so negative to those of us trying to get assistance. If I figure out a way around this issue I will be sure to post.

THERE IS AN SOP. PERIOD. Everyone in the thread so far has FAILED to follow through.  SOP = "Standard Operating Procedure".  There are a mere small handfull of readers still present.  Neither Bioware nor EA monitors the forum. 

As of May, 2011, nearly everyone here left.  That's usual for game forums.  In the fall, almost no one returned to any of the Social forums' Tech Discussions.  Only ME-3 fans were on hand.  It is almost May of 2012, and the small handfull will soon be numbered small enough to fit the fingers on one hand. 

Without the normal information, the few readers will just skip past those messages that cannot be answered.

My computer exceeds the minimum system specifications, I've already tried searching to fix this problem and there wasn't anything helpful. I'm playing with a digitally downloaded version from Origin.Since most people are also having issues with this, I'm thinking its a software issue. If needed, I'll post system details for my computer.
This happens to me only with the new 1.04 patch in DLC quests Repentance and Faith, right before a cutscene will play, I will get a loading screen. Right now, after I have finished the battle with the blood mages in the Keep from the Faith quest, there will be a forever loading screen. Esc key does not work like it did in Repentance.Prior to downloading the new patch, this quest worked fine.

seconning that, altho i managed to get past the first part of the cutscene after the blodmages, but than eternal hang.

due to that i can not continue my nightmare playthrough, regardless of character combination or graphical setting ( vsync window mode etc) it simply hangs , right now it is loading for 3 hours and esc does not help ;/

My wife is suffering this exact issue. Which means I am suffering by proxy. Any work arounds?

Once again, same as every other gamer adding a comment in the thread, no one followed the forum instructions in the "Before anything else" sticky. How any of you expect anyone to do any diagnostic procedure is beyond all logic.
