I had no problem with the Mako's controls (PC) and I don't see how anyone did. The console version, maybe, but I don't play inferior systems.

I don't see how graphics affect the gaming experience, as far as I'm concerned great gameplay and an awesome story more than make up for Atari 2600 graphics, doesn't mean that nobody else would though.

I don't remember including the word "graphics" in my post.

Allegory is apparently a dying art, and you're helping to kill it.

I thought they announced that in ME3 the principle of the Mako (free roaming to an extent) would make an return (at least partially). Can't recall the details, but free roaming would have to be had again.

I loved the Mako, that thing was beast, people just never got around properly learning to drive the damn thing. and the aim was perfect, just zoom in :) (machine gun did suck though imo)

Now we have a some thing that can fly and yet can't and it is made of wet tissue paper and has one hell of a worthless gun on top of it. Not to mention to freezes solid when it gets to cold or overheats when it gets to hot, mako didn't have those issues.

The Mako also wasn't a prototype.

Heh. The Mako wasn't bad.... but the landscapes you needed to drive were awful. My driving skills with the Mako were pretty awesome (if I say it myself), passing through parts where the most wouldn't be able to go - but sometimes it became unnecessarily difficult.

Almost every world that you used the Mako on, had "paths" that were easier to drive up or around mountains. Once you figured out what they looked like on the Map and in front of you, the Mako could get easily around any world they created, going quickly and easily to your destination. It wasn't always the straightest line, but then that was part of the fun. Most people who complain about steep mountains either don't care to look or never figured out that going around can sometimes be better. Come on people, learn that the straightest way in real life isn't always the best.

The bouncing like a ball was the issue, as well as the guns and armor becoming weaker than the stuff your character wears was an issue.

Having a vehicle with Mako's armor and weapons, the Hammerheads movement would be great, IF they got rid of the self-targeting(which I hope the do anyway). If you added the self-targeting then you might as well add autopilot and make it a cutscene because that would be how it would play.

No matter what they do, please bring back the open maps and free form roaming of ME1.

Open maps and roaming, I agree, open maps and roaming of ME1 no. Those maps are barren and dull, I don't care how "realistic" they are the same barren landscape repeated over and over and over and over and over again with different textures and sky boxes is still dull. Add exploration but do it the right way, make every planet actually unique. Look at the Firewalker missions, they may be linear but no two planets are exactly the same. Escaping from an eruption was a hell of a lot more interesting than any given barren wasteland.

That self-targeting is an target-locked system. Even then it often misses if you're on the move (which you're in general are unless you want to be fried).

Good controls don't require "getting used to," that's the exact opposite of intuitive. Challenge needs to come from proper sources, strong AI, well designed and balanced levels, not from poorly designed controls.

Uh, Nodacrux and Chasca say otherwise mainly because you're REQUIRED to scale said mountains for that mineral (more-so on Nodacrux). I shouldn't have to waste an hour on a planet just because of ****ty terrain.

If your argument was that the 360 controls weren't up to scratch, see my previous comments. I can't comment on them. I can only speak for PC.

And yet you're dismissing the 360s like the problems don't exist. That's the tone I'm getting from your post.

Hardly. Every single game I've played I've had ot get used to the controls. Once you get the hang of it you're good to go. For example - Batman Arkham Asylum. Got myself killed a few times before figuring out what I was doing, but now I'm kicking butt. To say that you shouldn't have to get used to controls is frankly assinine.

Im sorry what?
Getting used to mongoloid controls does not equal good game. You retarded brah?
The fact that you got killed at batman easy mode asylum before learning "the omg extremely hard controls" is just lolololol

Saying its controls were great if you learned to use them is retarded.

I can learn to run with a skateboard on my left foot and a piece of cheese on my right, doesnt make it a good option just cuz i can learn do it. It makes me pants on head retarded.
Pretty much like the people who think the mako had ok control

I just love the lack of logic in the above post. 'I think it's bad anyone who disagrees with me is a retard because they can control it better'. Did you even think through what you posted above? That anyone who can do better than you is a retard? Give me a break.

If you were using the xbox controller, you probably found it harder, due to (according to comments on the forum) the xbox control scheme for the Mako was b0rked. That's all very well, but isn't a reason to claim there was something inherently wrong with the Mako's controls - like I said, there isn't any significant difference to how it was controlled than things like UT2004/3's hellbender or Pariah's Buggy (or hell, even the buggy out of the Avatar game barring speed). I can only speak for PC controls, however.

Regardless, trying to trumpet your inability to control the Mako easily as some sort of reason for intellectual superiority is frankly, absurd.

Yeah you are kinda the people i was talking about. If you would understand logic. U mad bro?

You aren't REQUIRED to scale anything, the mineral quests are OPTIONAL and I usually just forgo them simply because they don't really bring enough money or XP to be worth the hunt later.  BUT just for you I decided to run the horrible NODACRUX,  to find out how long it actually takes, started at 11:20PM local time, finished at 11:43PM local time and even had to save exit and restart the game because of a lagging issue that has cropped up since the new 270 series drivers came out for my vid card.  So it took just over 20 minutes with a restart to do the entire mission and get both minerals, and both map point finds.  If you can't give 20 minutes to a mission you really don't need to be playing games.  Knowing where the minerals are I could probably shave a few minutes off doing the map, and if I didn't have the comp issue I mgiht even be able to do it in 15 minutes.

HINT HINT HINT:  always remember you can drive into the red areas to be reset to the map starting position, alllowing you to skip driving back in some areas.

On the hub worlds, the Mako helped add a larger sense of scale to the areas and variety in the gameplay, both of which were sorely lacking in ME2. On the random planets and side missions, mountain climbing in the Mako got old fast.

I wish they would have kept it, and improved it. but I've said that about a lot of things in ME1.

Uh, Batman fit perfectly fine for me. At least I know that if I ****ed up in combat, it's my fault. Mako is a different story.

Uh, no. Telling someone they can not do it is NOT a valid argument. If something is ****, something is ****.

Sorry, but if you f***** up in the Mako, then it was entirely your fault. Stop being such a baby.

And yes, you have to get used to the controls in almost every game. Nothing is "pick up and play."

Exactly. Now after I got killed in Batman, I became more familiar with the controls and figured out how to...you know...not die. Actually I literally just finished the game, pretty good.

Anyway I managed to get myself killed in Mass Effect the first few times as well. Why? Getting used to controls. Assuming that you can put a game in and instantly know how to do everything is...well...assinine, as I previously said.

You do understand the meaning of intuitive don't you? Intuitive controls are instinctive, there's nothing to figure out because they're second nature. The controls for Mass Effect on foot are intuitive, WASD move you around as you'd expect, shift sprints, spacebar brings up the power and weapon menu, etc. These are simple, intuitive controls, that makes them good. The Mako controls are the exact opposite. This isn't Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat where complicated controls are a core component to the game.

The only games that I imagine are "pick up and play" are your average generic first person shooters with small features.  Other than that, you're right.  A majority of the games I've played I have to get used to, it doesn't usually take too long though.  Whoever said this is forgetting that the developers certainly don't think the game is an "automatically know how to play", that's why they include tutorials in most modern games that pop up as we go along.  Because people don't always know how to play flawlessly.
