ME1 Steam Version Audio issues

so ive been playing mass effect latley and frequently throghout the game the music cuts out during exploration or diolog sometimes skips ive tryed verfying the game cache but that didnt really help anyone got any tips on how to fix this besides reinsstalling the game.

What sound card do you have? In the audio options, is hardware audio on or off?

realtek audio hardware audio option is off because me1 sounds horrible with it on
for the most part the game works just fine but i think the sfx and music and diolog conflict or something cutting 1 or the other out

I am having this same issue with the Steam version and I also have a Realtek onboard audio for my laptop
