just starting into the ME series after getting ME2 free with DA2, figured I'd play ME1 first. Guides suggest farming lift with an adept and then making a lift soldier for the real playthrough. I just unlocked lift on my adept, so my question: can I unlock the talent by lifting empty air 75 times, or does there have to be an enemy in my sights? If the latter, what's the fastest way to get someplace I can do this? I'm in Citadel currently, the Council and Sarin just blew me off.

If it's for the sole purpose of creating a Lift Soldier, why not just cheat in the achievement? Look up cheats in the ME wiki.

Unfortunately I don't know of any ultra-cheap tricks to get these achievements.

The way I did it was just finish the Citadel stuff and then go to the nearest place with enough enemies (Feros is probably easiest). Make a save before a fight and keep going through it. It really only takes a few minutes that way.

On topic:

You have to apply the power onto a target. You can bypass that limitation by using the power (and other targeted ones too) at the Mako as far as I remember.

Oh, ... and I'd rather say roll Vanguard first. So you could unlock Lift AND Shotgun, the latter undoubtedly the most powerful single asset due to its incredible firepower, force and distinctive lack of shortrangyness and inaccuracy!

You can make an Adept run later on with the Shotgun Bonus Training, which will turn out way easier/effective than rolling Adept first.

My 0.05$

A lot of guides say you can just target the biotics on the Citadel transport terminals for achievement to unlock.  I always wondered why they specified that target since I unlocked them simply by casting them anywhere, as in on the floors and walls around the Citadel.

Also, early in the game the cooldowns are so slow it's actually faster to cast once and then reload the save.  Repeat ad nauseum.  As a 360 player, console command cheats weren't available to me :P

Red Ring of Death looming above ones console AND no console/modding/cheats. Sucks to use XBox somehow, doesn't it? Image IPB

If you're really just looking to unlock stuff you could try the me1 achievement editor, since from your profile you're on pc instead of the console.

By the way, the PC version of the "lockpicking" minigame is much more annoying.

Since you will not be playing Insanity or some such, personally if you want to take a Soldier through then just take them through and forget farming to make them better. Soldier only needs Immunity which they get and a good weapon and they will get those in the game.

Personal recommendation is to take a Soldier through and unlock the weapons for other classes, then run either a shotgun or Sniper Adept to unlock all the Adept bonuses like singularity and then run a Engineer through with Shotgun to unlock all the tech bonuses. Then try out the hybrid classes with Singularity added for Vanguard and AI hacking for Infiltrators. That is if you really want to play all those times, otherwise just load up a Soldier and blast through the game, because companions will give you all the support you will need to be able to beat the game at any level. And DON'T take a new character through Insanity, always do an NG+ on Insanity, just for your sanity's sake, because of the way they make insanity hard is just a pain for a new character without good gear.

FTFY (fixed that for ya)

Some of us anticipated ME so much they bought a 360 for it, long before a PC version was ever annouced.

I have both versions. Playing through the PC version at the moment. I wouldn't be so quick to say it's superior. It is in some ways, but there are little things in the interface I like better about the xbox version.

Anyway my ME2 disc 2 for the 360 is "unreadable" all of a sudden, so the decision has been made for me :)

FTFYEM (Fixed that for you even more). At least I labeled my comment correctly Image IPB. Anyhow, it was not my intention to come by like some PC supremacist. I apologize.

I really would say going Vanguard would be the best. TO, how much in are you in the game?

A Vanguard without Singularity isn't a great class, it is good, don't get me wrong but it isn't great.  He would get more out of the class by waiting to play after unlocking Singularity.  Honestly, a soldier doen't need a bonus and if he is only going to play one or two times, then just role with Soldier and forget about "optimal" way of building and playing.  IF he is going to play more, then start with the mains to unlock the special classes.
