Would people want the option to propose marriage to your LI from ME1/ME2 in ME3?

no it would be stupid, just have some scene where shepard makes out with whoever they romanced at the end of the game and just assume they got married or something like that.

I can't stand real weddings. Why would I want to sit through a virtual one?

I have no doubt Bioware will give some closure to whatever relationship your Shepard pursued, but I think a wedding is a little out of place in the scope of the narrative, nor is it necessary for a satisfying conclusion to the overall story.

I don't care much either way. But if a marriage proposal was included, I hope it is not in the formulaic Bioware fashion where you can only propose, right before the final mission of the game.

That isn't romantic........hey baby, I'm going to die in a few hours, want to get hitched?

Good grief, it would be OPTIONAL.

Meh, formalities aren't as important as real feelings to me.

@LyndseyCousland If there's an option, then your LI will be sad that you said no to the idea. That's usually how BW romances work

it doesn't have to be LI proposing marriage.

an option for Shepard to propose marriage could be nice I think...  I would hate it if epilogue just decides if you stayed together or not, I'd rather select it before hand and you know have options of just staying together, or taking it one day at a time, or getting engaged, etc just various things you could pick between, or just say, I'd rather not concider anything untill after the reapers (and yes, in SB - there is the option to say, "I don't know").  role playing choices.

Man, this fandom is so lame...

They just want to add everything to the game, regardless of weather it fits the mood or is overall pertinent.

I would love it.

I get the feeling were going to have that type of ending anyways. We are talking about the last game of the series.. its not like its going to end in a cliffhanger with no answers. The developers will surely give you a good ending likely bringing all the squad members together for a party, celebration, memorial, speech, or something. I think everyone would be pissed if it ended with reaper dead now que the credits.

I agree, I think it'd be nice if you could get the option, maybe late in the game, and an ending cutscene shows the marriage briefly. It'd be very heartwarming, especially if it's an ME1 LI you're marrying in the end.

I understand that it would be optional. I was just being a bit facetious.

However, I'm just of the opinion that a wedding would be a cheap way of giving closure to the romantic subplots in the game. I guess I see it as a little to "story-bookish" for this type of narrative. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I don't see Bioware giving us that option due to the reasons above.

I'm fine with it if that's what they decide to do, though. I want to see the chosen romantic relationship play out fully just like anyone else, and if that's the direction they take it, then that's cool. I'm not trying to knock anyone's ideas; I'm just giving my opinion.

What's next? Kids? Maybe add an orphanage where you can adopt a young'un for your happy little Shepard family.

And what about a dog? It'd be nice to have a dog for when you move to your little house with a garden and a nice view of the beach.

They have to add mechanics for it, too. Like feeding the dog, taking the kids to school, opening pickle bottles for your LI (or the other way around, if you're FemShep), paying bills...

That sounds wonderful. I hope they neglect all the fighting mechanics, the galaxy-saving plot and everything else that makes Mass Effect, y'know, Mass effect and concentrate on making it as much of a dating sim as possible.

I wouldn't want it. Shep's a military man/woman and regardless of his/her feelings for his/her LI, Shep's gonna need to be focused on the mission. Nothing else. Yes, resolve the LI issues especially if you had one from ME1 cause that would be a distraction but the idea of engagement is just corny and weird.

Hackett: Shepard! We need you - the Reapers are attacking earth!
Shep: Oh...sorry, Admiral.  I just got done mowing the yard.
Hackett: Wha?
Shep: Maybe I can save the galaxy later, but Ash gave me this honey do list and I...uh...
Ash (screaming in the background) SHEPARD! Where's my pedicure SHEPARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hackett: Damnit that xenophobic, ****.
Shep: Maybe I can squeeze you into between walking the the teacup poodle and giving Ash her foot massage.
Hackett: SHEPARD! The Reapers are a threat to all life! We need you! NOW!
Shep! They ain't got nothin' on Ash's bunyons...
Ash: SHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEPPPPPPPPPPPPPAAAAAAAAARDDDD!!!!

No. I don't want my Shepard ever settling down. It's not in her blood. I don't think it's in Garrus', either.

Good thing it would optional, but that went right over your head.

Only if its a complete reenactment of the ending of star wars with rows of alliance soldiers standing in rows, Shepard and his/her LI walk down the path, get medals for saving the universe, grunt does chewbacca's roar and Shep/LI share a kiss as the credits roll. (Tali should throw off her helm for the ultimate face reveal)

I would say yes. I would only want it if it wasn't forced though.

Hell no. I want Shepard die heroically at the end. Give the series a proper closure. And then the Council, and all the aliens and humans honor Shepard by igniting fire on Shepard's memorial. A ceremony where the galaxy is worshiping Shepard is far more preferable to marriage ceremony, to me. It has a bigger scale.

Besides, I don't think that all the boys playing this game would be too attracted to the idea of marriage. One direction, please - either blue babes in catsuits everywhere, or settling down for happily ever after.

This is an action game, not a relationship simulator.

Goddammit, people, what with this obsession with romances? Leave it to fanfics.

I can't really say no if it's just an option and you have a choice to pick it or not.

However, I am perfectly fine with just a 'partner for life' thing with Garrus. Going around the galaxy, kicking ass, never settling down.
