I've done this several times on the PC and it's VERY annoying when you're playing for like the 10th time and you pick the wrong dialogue. It's especially bad on the PC when the position of your mouse can mean an extremely paragon option or renegade option.
Make it happen Bioware!

On xbox there's X and A.
Yes but X can select options too. So... you hit it a little to fast and you pick the wrong option. Very annoying
They should make it so only A can choose options.
I support this. Signed

Very, VERY much agreed. This unfortunate mishap has happened to me more times than I can count. Perhaps have the primary trigger for selecting dialogue and secondary trigger for skipping it?
Or at least having some timed delay before you can choose a dialogue option if you skipped dialogue within two seconds beforehand.

Amen to this. I've accidentially picked a dialogue option this way more times than I can count. It doesn't matter much in the first playthrough when I let all dialogue play out, but from the second playthrough onwards...? Oh yes.

Yes,totally. Same goes for combat,we can't have the same key for action-sprint-cover.

Funny how they had this problem in ME1, and they didn't change it at all for ME2. It has been requested so many times it must be one of the most common suggested changes.
Anyways, I emphatically agree with the suggestion.

Agreed.
P.s. We need a thread to fix the mouse movement as well (I'm too lazy right now.... >.<)! All that effort into improving shooter aspects only to have the mouse feel like it's stuck in a tar pit... :/

MUST HAVE.
I kept spamming the space bar in ME1 earlier today to get through dialog and cutscenes faster and I missed something VERY important because I hit the key without even seeing what the dialog options said.
And if I want to redo that entire sequence, I'd have redo about an hour and a half worth of gameplay.

But I ask.... why would people skip cutscenes? I see them over and over again without getting bored. They are just that good! Shepard is the best actor ever.

How about two separate buttons for skipping dialogues and choosing dialogues? That would work.
