EDIT: I only play nightmare. So I'm not sure why Att3ro can only get it to work on casual. The video I posted was thus on nightmare.
Casual probably lowers fortitude checks for enemies and ups your fortitude checks. Like how in Nightmare rogues/mages can randomly get chained into oblivion with low fortitude in a given fight, but if you turn the difficulty down one to two notches how that given fight magically becomes a breeze, since you're not getting chained into oblivion and all.

Hmm.. maybe it's something to do with the rank of the stealthed enemy. I just fought bartrand and maker's fist didn't work on him (but pull of the abyss did).
So I think that maybe only the more generic assassins (e.g. street thugs) can be maker's fisted out of stealth. Perhaps it's something to do with a fortitude check or something..
This.
If an enemy doesn't flinch, then they won't be knocked out of stealth.
FotM + Force Mage spec gives you ~2.25 times your base damage in force checks. Thats pretty low. Compare that to Cone of Cold which has ~7.5x the amount of force.
Jack Nader's build and playstyle is similar to mine(load up on constitution, yeeeaaaaaaa /high five), so I assume his magic is "low" compared to other vids I've seen. And thats where the descrepency lies.
Here's my stats at the time of the vid I made:
17 strength
17 dexterity
60 magic
18 cunning
33 willpower
41 constitution

Ealier when i said CoC doesnt work i was using primal order - 38 dps , my lv 17 , generic staffs i had 45dp - i had no suitable (with +%) and 38dps +14% is better then 45 dps generic (60 magic = 30dps -> (30+38)*1.39 vs (30+45)*1.25 not to mention the on hit bonuses.)
stats 60 magic 23 will 11 Con
for purpose of this however i backpadled and grabed the new DLC staff.
contents.
First is that telekinetic blast works
working CoC
Failed CoC due to Weaker staff used!!
2 speed stealths
fist showing particle
delayed fist
so basicly with 38dps staff that has 14% bonus causes Cone to fail destealthing while 48dps staff and no bonus works just fine.
Fist still doesnt work, however when particle appears you got the rogue stunned so you can blow him up with smth else.

the best fix should be the removal of those dumb invul frames. the times i missed a killshot because the guy just decided to do a backflip.. it sounds awfully stupid
It not sounds so,it is. The enemy rogues have enough advantages. The absurd big healthbar, the low cooldown for their stealth(like what 5-10 seconds),ignoring damage resistance when backstab, potion stealing and drinking, there is no need for a stupid damage immune frame.
It had to be possible to put them out of stealth immediatly and prevent them using it
/interrupt their backflip.
Nothing against challenge, but allowing the ai to basicly cheat is the wrong way for it.Make other enemies stronger instead.(shield and sword enemy warriors are pathetic in this game)

What do you mean by a difference between pc/console? Do you think that they have different mechanisms regarding the way that the physical force of spells work? That would sort of suck. :/
Balancing difficulty across platforms is very difficult both DAO & ME2 are harder on PC to compensate for better controls it wouldn't be surprising if they did the same with DA2.

Case in point:
Watch this video from 3:05 (because the Walking Bomb kill is f**king sexy) to 3:37; The Carta Assassin exits stealth, stabs Aveline, and re-enters it immediately.

I wasn't sure if we were allowed to use trance music from proper artists etc. Yay, all my videos are going to be trancing it up from now on!!
And yeah, assassins are the biggest trolls.
Really? I didn't know they did that.. Do they make it harder for pc or easier? I tried the DA2 demo on pc and couldn't figure it out, almost died in the first invincible stage (but luckily it was impossible). Meanwhile on xbox everything is so intuitive. But then again, i'm probably more used to dragonage on xbox.SmokeyNinjas wrote...

- The R button is your friend. It's your auto attack / loot button. A quick and easy way to get your entire party to focus fire on your tartet is to input the commands CTRL+A, R
- You can also shift click on party member icons to select/deselct multiple companions. I'll often use CTRL+A, then shift click on Aveline before pressing R. This deselects her and prevents her from changing focus if she's tanking a boss for me.
- And of course you can always pause the game and click and drag the mouse to select party members. Personally, I prefer keyboard controls.

I couldn't say for certain if DA2 was harder on PC & from what i've seen of DA2 console gameplay vids the controls seem much improved from DAO but it does seem like PC has higher resistance checks possibly to offset being able to have more powers hotkeyed

Focus fire works best with tactics: Enemy target of hawke attack.

Well that's a win for the console players then - who needs more than 6 hot keys anyway?! haha
But wouldn't that make comparing speed runs etc a little unfair? weird.

Yeah but you get annoying scenarios where they're getting attacked by someone and they just ignore the person smashing them in the face and try to help hawke out. I prefer to actively select all in the few cases I need to focus fire.

While there's difference discussion going on - in my game on the PC Varric never and I mean never finds traps that fast, it always takes maybe 5 seconds standing next to it (sometimes he still wouldn't detect them even if I can see with my eyes the translucent outline of a trap button. Anyone has a similar experience?
On another note, the video is a pretty nice presentation of the basic tactics one should employ as a mage, without complicating.
Sabotin, this is a known glitch in the game on the 360, not sure if it is happening on the PS3 or the PC/Mac versions. I've used Isabela, Varric, and even Sebastian but the same results. This usually only happens to me when in the cavern in Dark Town when going after Xebenkeck.

The song is Claudia Cazacu ft. Audrey Ghallager - Freefalling. I'm not sure why YT tagged it as Jon O'Callaghan (though I love him too), probably because a lot of 140bpm trance sounds similar.
I'll be uploading another tutorial sometime today.
The only places I've had issues with trap disarming are the square floor traps in the Thaig locations (i.e Xebenkeck, Abandoned Slaver Caverns), so I think that may be moreso an issue with the type of trap, rather than the disarming system itself (for 360, at least).

Stealth has zero cooldown. After they come
out for the backstab, it's just a matter of how hard they want to troll
you at that particular point in time.
Yeah, that's a pain. I've also have Assassins telestomp me (to use the D2 term), much to my chagrin. They'll
disappear then instantly reappear at least 6m away and backstab me or a teammate. Or they frontstab me for the same damage as a backstab, even when my back is to a wall. <_<
Anyone else have that happen to them?
