Listen to the recent podcast on GI!

At 19:50, one of the podcasters mentioned how the ME3 customizations system reminded him of (you guessed it) METAL GEAR SOLID 4!

While we still don't have exact details but I think it's safe to say that Bioware has a good idea on taking weapon customization to the next level.

YESH! Create a block party!

Using that logic a game like
Oblivion has no "challenge" in selecting equipment either. Just go with
Daedric weapons and Daedric armor.

Yeah, Oblivion doesn't have any challenge in selecting equipment. Throw on the right equipment and you're quite literally invincible, absolutely nothing can harm you, doesn't even have to be armour you can run around in the prison clothes you started with enchanted properly, then just equip the strongest weapon you've got and proceed to dominate everything.

Mass Effect needs a Dragon Age 2/Mass Effect 1 hybrid + some new stuff. Mass Effect 2 had really really poor RPG system. We need armor statistics, we need customizable weapons, we need ME1 style upgradable statistics for skills or at least skill trees, etc ... Also I would like to see Charm and Intimidate back in some form as an upgrade to your paragon or renegade bars.

Oh, and regarding interpretation: P/R points like ME1 (a simple statistic), no charm/intimidate, choice and consequence for either dialog or action (like in The Witcher), conversation interrupts (I like it, a nice innovation).

Actually, if you listen to Zaeed's stories about Jessie he specifically refers to her using clips in a story that was set five years prior to ME2, and the rifle itself is at least fifteen years old, so it's entirely possible that heat clips were used at the time, but they were considered to be inferior. Less demand means less cost, the perfect weapons for a merc just getting started, or security aboard a civilian vessel owned by a company too cheap to spring for the good weapons that wouldn't expect their security officers to be seeing enough combat that they'd need to fire more than a few dozen shots anyway.

While he says something about a clip, notice he says he didn't have to eject a clip once.

Thus, his comment makes no sense in either ME1 or ME2 game play "lore". Unless that text was written during the time when slow-self cooling weapons was being game play balanced (along with upgradeable levels - an indication Jessie was a top notch "well equipped girl") before the cut to the full "ammo" system.

Actually it makes sense in ME1.  While there was no ammo game mechanic wise on a lore level there was to some degree. Thousands of rounds of ammo, is still rounds of ammo.  You might carry a spare block of metal for a clip in cases where you have long battles expected.  Basically there was ammo in ME1 lore, it was just such a large number they don't bother counting on a game mechanic basis.

Yes right of course, it works in the Lore of ME1 that there still wasn't any heat sinks until the "Geth" said so in time for ME2.
