I replayed dao with much fun :), ( Maybe the nostalgia lol ) it strikes me to see that I find it much more beautiful and more accurate.

This is especially in the faces where I noticed a difference between the two games. IN DA2, faces seem much more smooth, less precise. There was something strange.

The faces of my Hawk, I can not hang at all. In fact when I look at the avatars of the forum, there is also something wrong. Always this impression of blurred.
Note that I'm on Xbox, but the comparison with DAO is also on the same console.

In short, for DA3, I am for abandoning the cartoon, and return to something darker, more realistic as in Dao but improved version.

Kirkwall reminds me just a world of fantasy, when Denerim reminds me a mixture of realism and fantasy in which I immerse myself a bit more.

The armor in DA2, have also something strange, I do not know what.

But it is especially the case of elves makes me want to change, they are not beautiful in DA2, although I welcome the willingness of the team to change.

I prefer Merril in DAO than in DA2.

Do you want another design for them ?

For the next episode, do you want graphics as DA2 or DAO ? Of course, assumes that it will work well done in both cases.

Sorry. DA3 will probably be like "SW: The Clone Wars."

If you have better examples to make comparisons as fair as possible, I take. :)

example :

The art style in DA2 just looked way too cartoonish for me. The art style in DA:O were a lot more dark and serious, consistent with what was going on. DA2 was supposed to be a dark story, but the art style just didn't fit.

I started a Rogue on DOA the other night on my 360, I think if they could up rez the graphics but go with a more tradional style like DOA it would be better, the graphics werent so bad for DA2, but the art-style doesnt appeal to me, Im sure there are alot of people that like the new style tho, so they need to find middle ground.

Could they really do that for DA3? I mean I've never seen a realistic looking JRPG and I doubt if EA has either.

Obviously Kirkwall wasn't brown enough to be real.

Brown gives character. DA2 even says it in the game.

The outdoor scenery in the wounded coast was beautiful.

I really HATED the look of the Darkspawn.  Talk about Cartoony joke.

The first thing they should do with the artwork is get rid of the skeletor hurlocks and bring back the classy, detailed style of the UI (specially abilities' icons)

DAO looked a bit plastic.

The only good thing of DA2: The graphics.

Just the graphics...not how characters or towns looked. Just the very basic of its graphics.

It ties in with the whole snag Dragon Age 2 hit with everything.

It didn't know what it wanted to be.
Dragon Age Origins established Thedas as a fairly low fantasy world. Magic and Dragons were there, but they didn't effect the average peasant on the street.
It was otherwise fairly similar to medieval Europe.
The graphics style reflected that, and importantly, established the world like that in our heads.

Along comes Dragon Age 2.
The art style now looks like a comic book in motion. It's pretty cool, and the animations seem to be somewhat better.
BUT, this is not Thedas. It doesn't look right. It doesn't feel right.
The art just did not reflect the setting and clashed with the previously established ideas of the player base.
I mean, that along with the other antics like the Paratrooper Full Plate Templar Ninjas and city full of Blood Mages summoning hundreds of demons ever other day.

I think the blame for it lies at the Lead Designers for this one.
It's not that its awful. But it's not Dragon Age.
It felt to me like they wanted to do their own world, their own setting, with their own rules, their own style.
But they probably didn't have the metric data to back that up, so EA forced them to use the already popular Dragon Age franchise. So they morphed it into what THEY wanted, rather then what the customers had come to expect.

That or Mike Laidlaw is the King John to Brent Knowles Good King Richard.

The problem with DA2 is while the graphical engine had more bells and whistles, aside from the entrance to the chantry, the entire game looked like sh-t.

Also DAO had flags that fluttered in the wind. In DA2 they were all made of lead. DAO had the spinning windmill while everything was static in DA2.

Need to see some images taken on the same PC for both games. The sources of some of these pics are vastly different. I have some on my PC so I can review it anyway.

Personally I prefer the Dark Fantasy realistic looking game over the flashy cartoon. If we get a DA3 (and I hope we don't) I doubt it will be anything but more of the same in DA2. A final cashout of the DA franchise and EA will be moving on.

Hmm the comparison photos only solidify my preference for the DA2 style.

Different strokes for different etc.

What? No DA3? That would make all of Dragon Age look bad.

I thought that with DA:O, Bioware did their best with aging graphics, and took care with the small details. With DA2, they got lazy with the new graphics. The main characters looked good, including the main Elves, but anything that wasn't prominently featured looked rushed and odd.

I did not find that DA2 elves looked good. They look like alien-people.

DA2 looked a little cartoony to me. I don't know how you can even make it better. More detail maybe? Darker? I am lost.

I agree with you. In my opinion, This is not Thedas, this is not the world wanted by the Dev. It doesn't look right. It doesn't feel right, indeed, it seems like a comic book. There is something wrong. I feel also that's not Dragon age. :s

I agree. Bioware forgot the small details for this episode and yet it's very important. :'(
