I was mucking around with gear trying to meet the armour requiements on my rogue by using gear and I came across this little issue.
I have rune of valiance equipped to Black Fox's Jerkin - +6 attributes from the rune
I equip gloves of the champion with the rune which gives +7 attributes

If I equip the Jerkin and then the Gloves then remove the jerkin followed by the gloves and I find my base stat's have permanently decreased by one

If I do it the other way around and equip the gloves first then the jerkin
then remove them in the same order I find my stats have permanently increased by
one

To give you an idea of what I'm taking about. Standing
naked I have 11 strength. Equip the Jerking with it's +2 attributes and
the +6 from the rune my strength naturally goes to 19. Equip the gloves
of the champion with the rune and it still stays at 19. Remove the
Jerking and it drops to 17 as I'm losing the natural +2 affect. Un-Equip
the Gloves as well and I find my strength has dropped to 10

It isn't something that is exclusive to the Jerkin either that was merely
the example. If I use the Vestment of Mystic instead with the rune
giving it a +4 bonus in the exact same fashion from base 19 str.
Equipping vestment then the gloves both with the rune then removing them
in that order drops it all the way down to 13 str

Isn't this because they don't stack? You can put as many as you want into your armor but it should only apply one. It says that in the description of the rune in the crafting menu, so it's curious as to why you're even allowed to put more than one into a set of armor. Because as you can see, when you do put more than one into your armor set, things can get messed.

But the Runes didn't stack for me when I tested out putting more than one into my armor, above poster says they do stack, I don't know.

This is an issue that we're addressing in the next patch. Just for a fix (cheat!) you can do what you did in the opposite order to permanently gain +1 stats. Now, you can do this once (or more) to equalize your current stat loss if you don't want to cheat the system.
