Honestly I'd never use blood magic, even if it gives a huge advantage. Really dont know why, but I never will. so Ive been looking for builds but Ive found nothing but blood blood blood, as well as builds for the 'most useful' companions when I plan to rotate through all of them not just sticking to what works.
Honestly I will probably never play on nightmare, so 'optimal' builds arnt high on the priority list. so can I get some help?:innocent:
good build for Non-blood force mages(+all companions)?

There isn't a huge advantage in blood magic really. It just leads to many interesting possibilities build-wise and allows less emphasis to be placed on willpower (because willpower is effectively wasting damage potential).
if you're not using bloodmagic you'll probably have to go for the magic/willpower build with just a little bit into constitution for survivability. This is actually quite a common build/concept but not really my style. Basically you'll be a force mage/spirit healer - what you focus on will determine whether you're more a healer/buffer type or dps. In this case if you were to go dps I would recommend elemental dps (as robes fit into a magic/willpower build a lot easier and the only robes worth getting are +% elemental). So basically, in other words you'll be able to do exactly the same things that a bloodmage/force mage can do besides explode things via haemorrhage but instead will have the ability to heal if you really want to. (e.g. you can still drop fireballs on people like every mage out there seems to do)
Given the mechanisms behind bloodmagic you'll be hard pressed to get a competitive mana pool size-wise - but the good news is that you get crazy fast mana regen from warrior abilities like rally.
In terms of useful companions...you probably want a warrior for rally (either fenris or aveline), if you have a glassier build probably aveline might be more helpful (bodyguard etc). If you go into the primal side (recommended you at least get upgraded chain lightning) your warriors will help stagger enemies for you to CCC. You'll need a rogue for opening locks etc. Since you're not playing nightmare theres no problems with ff so you can chose any of them really. If you get any spirit spells you'll want your rogues to get disorientating fog so once again you can CCC. Two hander warrior (carver and fenris) and Archer companions (varric and sebastion) also can take advantage of any enemies you brittle. Your third companion is pretty much up to you really. I would consider bringing anders along all the time unless you spec your mage out as a buffer, as anders with haste makes every build pretty viable haha

My first, and second mages were Force Mage/Spirit Healers on Normal and it went fine. First run was Anders, Merrill and Verric and there were few issues. That was also my very first game so things were rather hodgepodge and I didn't take advantage of CCC. Second was much better in terms of combat efficiency with Merrill, Verric and Aveline.
From my experience with all my games so far, a rogue is the only 'needed' party member for traps/locks. Otherwise, plan to taste.

thank you, still looking for complete talent/stat builds for all the companions though. (Again, not focusing on 3 companions and sticking to em, I like to switch things up a lot. Like in the original dragon age with my mage I didn't have one companion I used more than the other, just switching it up every now ad then)

try Arelex's mages guide
it gives you the tactics for all the companions and if you click on their names it'll go to the talent builder and show a possible talent progression.

For attribtes, Magic got most of the love, with Willpower a litle behind it. And because they matter a pinch more than in DAO, I added a drop to even out to most everything except STR because Fortitude was well covered.
I used the last entry on that thread as a base, but went full Primal; plus added the Cold spells. Imp versions of Mental Blast, Cushing Prison, Heal and added Elemental Weapons.
First spec was Force Mage with Fist of the Maker and Unshakable, then chose Spirit Healer and took the usual group selections to avoid being forced to save Anders a second time.
But the best call was taking advice and keeping 6 staves of varied Dmg Types, so I had the best tool for the job.

For most of your companions you can get most of the basics of how to build them from the guides for hawkes of the same class. Not sure how helpful this is, but here's the approximate talent order I used for carver.
Fenris is pretty similar but focus on his personal tree when you can, and i'm pretty sure you can find a decent isabela build out there if you look. I haven't used her much so while I could make a talent order for you if you want i wouldn't have any in-game experience on how well it works.
Just quickly, i'll explain the talent choices for warriors.
Basically the best warrior talent is cleave, especially when it's upgraded to claymore. This means that you want to get those talents as soon as possible. Otherwise, the other very useful talent (especially for a non-bloodmage) is rally. This increases your mana regen by heaps and especially once upgraded, it can convey things such as 10% damage and 25% crit damage as well as lots of elemental resistance. If you focus on cold spells at level 8 or so you could consider upgrading the mighty blow.
This setup is mainly for nightmare as it avoids talents such as scythe which have massive friendly fire issues and will destroy your whole party if you're not careful. Since you're not planning on playing with friendly fire, you may consider focusing more on talents etc though there really isn't much need. Hope was what you're looking for?
You don't need help with attribute amounts do you? Cos for companions its basically - pump base stat (str, dex, mag depending on class) and maybe some cunning for rogues (for locks) and some constitution for survivability and for aveline to equip shields.
