I hope Jacob is in ME 3 as a squadie and a homie

Also, last I checked he still owes Manshep a drink on the Citadel being that we never got to get live and kick it in ME 2. Yo bwoy Blue supports Jacob for Mass Effect 3 and I know that I cant be the only one that wants to see the most prolific African American soldier make a return.
BTW, Wouldnt it be nice to see how much the "most boring guy on the Normandy" grew.I really hope Bioware dont leave Jacob out of Me 3 because of how misunderstood his character was.<_<

"The Prize" is the butt of all Jacob jokes. It doesn't show he's one of the most popular characters at alllll.
And sorry, I'm not interested in his drinks on the Citadel. I'd drink with Conrad Verner before I drink with Jacob.
I'll give you the last bit though. Garrus in ME1 wasn't particularly eventful, but became wildly popular with 2. There's hope for Jacob. But I'm not holding my breath.

Because Mass Effect totally needs the token funny black guy, right?100k wrote...
While I don't really like him as much as the others, I definitely like him more than Kaiden (with his soft, story-book voice). I just hope he's funnier this time.

He needs to have funny stories, and he needs to avoid being a stereotype.

What's his stereotype?

What is there to 'misunderstand'? Jacob lacked enough substance to understand him, much less misunderstand him.thatbwoyblu wrote...

I don't dislike him, I blank him. He's nothing to me. I'd take him over a few other squadmates I actively dislike, but I really could care less if he shows up again.

I'm not saying that he is a stereotype currently. I'm saying that he needs to be funny, and avoid becoming a stereotype in the process.

Because Jacob is utterly unremarkable in both personality and back story. If it wasn't for the unintentional hilarity with femshep he'd be as forgettable as a random Blue Suns mook.

So "funny black guy" is the first way anyone can think of as a means for distinguishing Jacob from the rest of the crew?

It doesn't have to be about him being a 'funny black guy' stereotype. Humor is just a quick and easy route to likeability, especially if the character is supposed to be a 'buddy' type. Look at Alistair and Varric from the Dragon Age games, or heck, look at Joker. If you're the laid back, drama free character, that usually goes hand in hand with humor. Besides, it can never hurt to be funnier. People like funny.marshalleck wrote...

Note: I'm not even agreeing with the previous poster that Jacob should become a funny guy, I don't think cracking jokes is his style (which is probably another reason why I don't care to see him back, I like the funny). I'm just saying, there are other ways of interpreting that than jumping to the 'you want him to be a stereotype!' conclusion.

The problem as I see it is this, everyone has a different favourite character granted some are more popular than others, however everyone wants their fav to return as a squadmate or at least in a large role, its not going to happen, I think some people might be dissapointed.
Don't turn this into another "X characters can't come back/yes they can" debate.

Is Garrus comic relief? He's one of the most liked characters, and he's pretty much never used as such. He has some witty lines here and there but 'humor' isn't one of his defining characteristics.
I'm just wondering why several people think Jacob needs to be made "funny." I think I know why that is, I'm just curious to see if people can approach the reasoning honestly.
