Well Aveline may have flirt lines, but you pretty much agree to marry Sebastian if you romance him. And I don't even think Varric mentions him at the end if you do that. You can't even use him in act 1, you see a cutscene with him then talk to him after you finish the quest... his act 2 quest is good, but his act 3 quest is... head to Viscount's Keep, kill one wave of enemies, go back to the Chantry, talk to the Grand Cleric, fin. When you look at the Chantry scene at the end, when the camera pans to him it's not very well done, all zoomed up on his face and like I said, he talks to a few people but only Hawke acknowledges him. Not even Anders or the First Enchanter say anything. I do think it's possible that he was supposed to be in the game as a more fleshed-out character, but couldn't get finished in time, so they cut him out, but then needed day one DLC and he was on the side so they used him...

All unbolded part is what I experienced as well, both rival or friend.
The bolded part is how I felt due to this, though I can neither scream it to be true or false I'd side with it being true given how he is implemented.

I just hope if they do make DLC that fits into the story before the ending, they put a lot more effort into polishing it.
I'd rather longer content set outside and after the events of chapter 3 tbh though.

They won't get a dime from me with their DLC crap , they already robbed me with a 60$ game that it's not worth that much money at all , no matter how well polished they will be i will not put a cent more than what i already paid for that sub-par game

Yes; they hypnotized and forced you to buy this game. I hate it when that happens, esp when they send CP and Stan to collect. Those trout smell horrible!

^ you can't deny the fact that the ads and dev diaries were riddled with false advertising, so yeah they kind of did market a different game than they sold us, at some point in time I remember reading that you had a choice to save a burning orphanage or let it burn to continue with another quest

Re in bold:I think you're mixing up DA2 with Fable 3, as that was an example Lionhead used often to explain the new touch system.

If other players want to pay for this DLC
and the company is willing to sell it, why do you feel the need to
demand that the transaction not take place?

Why are people so mad about this? How many weapon and armor packs did they release for ME2? Were you all actually surprised by this? :?

No it was in fact an article for dragon age 2, trust me, I'm not that dim at least not yet, I see the confusion there, but it indeed was an interview I read roughly 4-5 months prior to the releases date of dragon age 2.

Yes but Mass Effect's weapon and armor packs, at least some of them were free not to mention released alongside story driven dlc, we had two extra characters before we had two weapon packs

Wasn't there something like that in DAO? There was never a burning orphanage to save in Fable 3 though.

If it was indeed meant for DA 2 it probably got cut and will be coming out as DLC. Because it couldn't be finished in time.

Never accused you of being dim, but considering how many different games come out hyping things this year it wouldn't be difficult to get things mixed up even with the best of us. I never saw that article, I just followed the video diaries.

The only orphanage fire I can think of in an RPG that played out was Return to Krondor.

I felt there were a lot of things they wanted to do, and it would have been awesome but they ultimately failed

Reality has a habit of not living up to peoples fantasy expectations, its not magic.

I suggest people also give these two articles a read reguarding DLC.

You sir are wrong, I happen to love the first mass effect, while some parts I felt were a little too dragged on, the entire game lived up and exceeded my expectations so did mass effect 2, although I would have loved more rpg elements, the game did improve it's combat drastically, and for that I approve

And I had no real "fantasy" expectations, I loved origins, while I didnt expect the fabled "origins 2" I did expect more player freedom and choice, you know the one thing they kept advertising, so is it out of my fantasy expectations, no, it's my very real expectations, everything I had expected other games from the same company did, so please don't act like I'm a brat for griping about this game

Rather then DLC I want a toolset.

That way I can start getting mods that significantly improve the games faults, instead of just Return to the Primeval Thaig, item sets, and the Constructs of the reused interiors of cave 229 which add nothing significant to the game.

How about fixing the game first, so people who can't play due to bugs, can finally play DA2? Still DRM and game breaking bugs out there for quite a few people.

I had leftover Bioware points from buying The Exiled Prince, I had MORE than enough points on my account to purchase these item sets without buying more points.

The item sets are quite cool btw. I really like having a custom outfit so early in the game :D.

Hear hear.

On a foolish whim, I just bought the item packs, and almost immediately regretted it, because by doing so I fiscally rewarded bioware for continuing to blow off overdue fixes to the core game, in order to soak customers for still more $$ for dross and trinkets, but nothing in the way of roleplaying story content or improved product integrity.

Not only that, but more than a few of the items are unbalanced and/or inconsistent with other prior DLCs.  All party members now have an individually restricted pendant

Cases in point:

* Malcolm's Honor (Mage Staff), aside from situ-specific damage type considerations, pretty causes all other staves in the game to fade in comparison - if you're running a solo-mage party, then unless you're specifically looking for a healing bonus staff you can now pretty much ignore every other staff, and sell off any pickups without even looking at them.  It's unbalanced.

* Bling:  All party members each receive an individual item (either a pendant or ring) that scales with level, and which is better than anything you can find randomly or buy (with imaginary game money) within the game ... that's another 8 companion items slots that have now gone the same route as companion armor, and which thereafter are no longer of changeable/evolving interest to players.

That's just 2 items at random - the are other scaleable items as well.

If things continue in this direction, eventually, there will be no need to look at any pickups in the game at all, because you'll be able to buy all the best gear in the game right up front ... the items that scale can be worn from start to finish, and the items that are gimped with level restrictions can be stashed until you make level.

Gee, once they sell off all the item slots in the game, what's next ?  Are they going to sell us a script that plays the game for us, so we can just sit back and watch one long cinematic spanning the entire game that we have no input to at all ?

Probably not, but like many others have already said, I'm disheartened by Bioware's ongoing tendancy to push buggy stuff out the door too soon, and then try to sell us ever more dross while footdragging or bungling overdue bug fixes and largely ignoring the inputs of even the most professional, cogent and well-intentioned paying customers.

Not a good sign.

Bottom line: you need a complete game before you start offering piece of crap item DLCs for sale. Let me know when DA2 doesn't suck and then maybe...
