In my game, Ashley ended up thinking we should learn from our galactic allies. ^_^

Yeah, I did that in an older game. Same to see her abandon her guns like that. In the end she is an insecure person eager to fit in. She'll be up against a wall when the time comes.

You know, this is a very bad thread. Everyone here, I will say, has made some great arguments. Even learned a few things here and there. However, I see a lot of redundant disrespect to people who have different beliefs while trying to justify their points. I look down on people like that and I feel sorry for people like that as well. Would like to see people RESPECT other's beliefs without shooting them down. Yes, I am talking to "you". You know who you are.

You can't make reasonable arguments while tearing people down. Its just dirty and low down. Now, back to the topic at hand.

I tend to think that if you actually get a few good apples in a barrel full of rotten ones then life has shown you some mercy.

I would hazard a guess after following the spoils of my creation and say that I got more than a few good apples. In fact, I'd say that I got a barrel full of good apples and a few rotten ones.

Therefore I don't think this thread is bad, I think it's good. I've seen a remarkable amount of compromise here that I haven't seen in hardly any other thread. It really isn't every day here that you see the majority of later posts actually building consensus instead of bashing each other over the head with one opinion or another.

That whole portion of semantics is what I'm talking about. People actually trying to convey their opinions clearly and helping each other do so across the opinion divide.

Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy, and even I consider that a good thing.

You've got a good thread here. Some things were talked about and hater have been deflated becuase of this thread. (but there out there) And it did decend into chaos (as threads talking about Ashley do)

Oh I noticed something to... The extreme lack of a song from a tony award winning play! Image IPB

Sorry couldn't help it. (I'll stop now.)Image IPB

I completely agree with you. I guess, my parents just made sure to make me aware of those are genuine and those who aren't and that you have to be careful with that. You don't want to become naive. Just how I was raised. But, you are absolutely correct in your assessment. I agree totally! I just had to speak after seeing some people shoot down other people's beliefs because they themselves were never taught to believe in something. So, shooting down someone else makes them feel better about themselves, which I find to be the most immature and untelligent move ever to take. Its redundant to me. They try to use that to hurt other people when they know themselves can't backup anything they say. I swear, I hate thinking like that. Burns me up. lol.

I originally liked Ash, but the whole sacrificing your dog and being able to not tell the difference between aliens and animals really pissed me off. She has limits, true, but even in ME2 she said she was no fan of aliens. Unless her character learns to accept the past for what it is and grow up, I doubt there's much of a Ash/Shep future.

I enjoy poetry and literature in general. I especially enjoy Tennyson's poetry and love Ulysses and Charge of the Light Brigade. That actually gave her character appeal to me, but I understand that many people take a very inferior view when confronted with poetry for some reason.

Finally, I admit I'm an atheist and wasn't a fan of Ashley's religious views for the reasons you described. I associate her religion with the Abrahamic religious views (not gonna say which ones for fear of insulting somebody) and dislike those points, but those are not game breakers for me. I've dated religious women, but unlike Miranda and Jack who never discuss religion, focusing on more secular reasons, Ashley really stands out as a beacon and that's why she's considered a "zealot"

BTW, I'm sorry if I'm repeating any posts, don't want to read 16 pages worth of peoples opinion just to share my own opinion =P

Also, she was kind of a b*tch. Whenever Shepard came back from a mission and they all gathered in the com room, she was constantly berating and correcting everyone to which my shepard had to say "It's ok" and "Don't worry about it" and "calm down" -- it just got a little old. Yes, Ash, we understand you're protective but damn..you can be a huge beezy. Especially to Liara who didn't do anything and wanted to help Shep.

Accusing me of being a troll again? I am offended. How can you continue to insult me like this?

I personally see Ashley has a racist, don't mind her love of poetry or her faith. But I always thought with her racist ideologically, she'd be the perfect Cerberus recruit.
