ROFL @ Biodrones claiming VGChartz is faked information. They get their numbers directly from retailers, and other game developers have used their numbers to show how much something sold compared to past games.

C'mon man, we are talking about group that, at one point, used disaster in Japan as reason for lack of sales(people donated for charity so they couldn't afford to buy this game, at least according to some of them).

I'm sure giving them credit that at least they are trying something less dellusional now to prove their point.

Either way, DA 2 is roughly of (non)quality similar to just one recent game, Arcania, and we know how that ended up.So numbers didn't suprise me at all, they were quite expected to be this way.

Hopefully BW will learn from it and find some other game to please CoD crowd with it, instead of ruining this franchise any further. And, BW can we please find some real, professional writers for next DA?

Could you show your colors a little bit more? VGChartz is widely considered to be an unreliable source for game sales, because they are known for greatly over- or undertracking game sales. I'm not saying the sales for the game are higher than they're "reporting," it's possible they're even lower, but don't try to act like VGChartz is a reliable source. Really.

I'm just saying that if one is looking for data to serve as proof of anything other than confirmation bias, you might want to take more factors into account. I recognize that some folks are going to take any statement by a developer that isn't a mea culpa as some kind of "denial of the truth", but I'd say we're well aware of how DA2 is selling and how much of a success or failure that is for our company and Dragon Age's future potential. Whether the lesson we've learned is the one you think it should be will remain to be seen, I guess. Hopefully so.

Thing is, we havent seen any "lesson learned" posts, all ive seen is locks of threads that were asking of you to step up your game :(
I Mean you were the number 1 RPG game maker without a doubt, Baldurs Gate series, Neverwinter night, Dragon Age Origins... Most people were just so disappointed to see you take all of your games into the "dumbed down" RPG way...

And boy is that a ****** poor record for DA2 in comparison to DAO. Of course not sure how many digital sales to tack on to that. Anybody know what Steam says?  I thought I saw someone mention it once.

I saw a steam figure of 105k sales for DA2, that was maybe 4-5 weeks ago.

I bought my copy on steam, and now I cant fob it off onto someone else, it was cheapish though.
On the bright side I also got NV on steam also and am playing the new honest hearts dlc today.

As far as sale numbers go, everyone fudges the numbers because of the variables, such as preorders and cancelled ones, refunds, digital distribution can be tracked (most of the time) but bricks and morter not so much. They tend to count those on the shelves at stores as already sold, this can only be confirmed with the store ordering more copies. All sorts of weird stuff goes on with sale numbers, so caveat lector, always.

And yet their numbers matched Biowares 1 million copies announcment pretty accuratly.

And yet, not a single bioware employee has denied them. And Bioware has denied them before from VGChartz.

Sorry but DA2 fails and that is a fact you trying to deny.

Indeed, If they were so far of the mark EA's legal department would be all over them, simply because it can throw it's weight around.

Vgchartz is widely considered unreliable. That's why the Forbes, Fortune, NYT, the Wall Street Journal use it as the reference source for their industry analysis.

Thanks! I want to be fair. And digital sales are important too.

Retailers are dumping DA2 from shelves. It's a dud...but that much is obvious to all but the most deluded fanboy.

I wish and hope that BW can come up with a fantastic DA3, returning to its roots, well developed and polished, and that it sells a lot! Oh, if they use REDengine for it, I'll love it too!

Considering that it's a sequel to a highly successful game....
Those numbers are really poor. :(

"Confirmation bias" is a new Bioware buzzword. When in doubt, they invoke it.

It seems that we have all been misled, the proper title is not DA2, it's actually DA/2: everything is divided by two, areas, dialog, content, sales...

I see it as a good thing in my book when the cynical cash grab products don't do well.

I'm gonna call this Karmic balance for how badly Scott Pilgrim vs. The World did at the box office.

Agreed.

What have we done to deserve this in the first place?

those are digital numbers (the numbers for how many people have downloaded the game OFFICIALLY), the numbers in this post do not include the digital numbers, which i think is a mistake cause the digital market takes a large proportion of pc gaming, but still, even with those numbers the game sales are still inferior to DAO's.
