One of the sacrifices to appeal to the COD crowd I guess.

There's nothing wrong with trying to spread appeal for a game. But shoddy writing isn't to appeal to the Call of Duty crowd.

Blanket statement doesn't cover this spot.

I disagree.  Throwing you right into action, overpowered action at that, was to appeal to the crowd they were going after.  Fearing they wouldn't get into the game if it started too slowly.  I could be wrong, but that's what it seems like to me.

No throwing you into the action was a simple in medias res way to start the game. This was a perfectly legit way to go since Origins had 30-40 minutes of unnecessary dialogue about events, players, and organizations the player had no knowledge or interest in yet.

I would have agreed with this if not for the overpowered section.  I thought the origins in the first game were fine.  The Human Nobles Origin was the kind of thing this game could have used.  You learned about the Cousland Family history, and actually felt ike you had a family, and lost it.

The over powered thing was humor and it served to show the player that Varric is an unreliable narrator.

What, exactly, the point of having an unreliable narrator is...well I guess we have to wait for the next game. But at present it's just a nice way of saying any plot inconsistency or player choice that doesn't turn up as canon in DA3 was due to Varric lying.

I guess I can go with that.  I still feel the time could have been used in a better way.

Most things about the game could have been presented better.

Will there even be a next game after this?
