I still don't see how is that line bad.

Because being cynical makes you look cool.

and being recklessly idealistic is not

Having Princpals and Morality isnt being recklesly idealstic

It just can be so out of character for certain Shepards in my opinion. Just because you do paragon actions does not mean you did them for moral reasons. For example, healing the Batarian on Mordin's recruitment mission because you can't get information from a corpse

When those principles and morals are based on idealogical BS then yes it is being recklessly idealistic

Ah, that's true. It can be out of character for certain Shepards. But that doesn't make it one the worst lines in the entire game, does it? I understand the collector base dialogue is the most important one in the game, and you didn't have an option you liked, so you're not happy about it. Okay. But wishing an additional dialogue option isn't the same as thinking the ones that are already there are bad lines.

Well, at least it isn't as bad as "Goodbye, little wing... I shall see you again with the dawn..."
Gah.

Commander Sherpderp strikes again!

Wrex: The genophage is not the same as the First Contact War.

Shepard: They seem pretty similar to me.

Me: *facepalm*

Okay, that's paraphrased, but keep in mind Shepard says that no matter which dialogue option you pick. Urrrrgh. Shepard can be such a moron sometimes.

CHOICES!

I wonder if that's referencing the Jimi Hendrix song Little Wing?

Could be. Regardless, great song, awful line.

Yes, that was indeed a moment which was completely boobies by that boobies. I mean, if boobies had been boobies better, then we might have boobies some boobies emotional boobies from that boobies and subsequently boobies a more boobies boobies with Liara in the boobies.

...on second thought, I think that line was the least of that scene's problems.

Don't you agree this would be good enough?

See, you can tell us what you think about how cool would have been to have a certain option instead of bashing existing ones other people might be okay with :-)

Odd, I just assumed that thats what 'Liara' means in Asari 'Little Wing'.  Sort of the way many names have another or original meaning.

How dare Matriarch Benezia say goodbye to her daughter, she should be all apathetic and unfeeling, 'cause its not like a mother might care about her last moments on this mortal coil. /sarcasm

I expected to ruffle some feathers when I made this topic. This forum makes for good debate.By the way, I mainly agree with the second option ("I don't trust you") in pic you uploaded.

I think the larger issue is the on/off decisions in the game. It is destroy it or hand it to Cerberus? How about keep it and give it to the council? Kill the rachni or let them go free, how about not kill them but don't give them free reign?

Paragon = idealistic Shep, Renegade = practical Shep

If you want to be practical, keep the base.

No, that's your onesided perception of paragon shepard. People who play a paragon shepard often have reasons different than those expressed by their character.

Like for instance the topic of this thread.

I think the 2 basic outcomes for saving the council had a neutral option that was more reasonable but had the same basic outcome as renegade. The same should have been used for this. I like playing an almost-pure renegade that is open-minded towards aliens and hates Cerberus, so neutral would have been perfect.

Yeah that felt better to me.  Save, them.  Let the jerks die.  Concentrate on the bad guy, he is the real threat.

I can roll with the last even though it has the same end result as the 2nd option.  I wish that had effected council decisions, like opened up a we need a multicultural council and humans do not need to be at the lead.  We should bring in the volus and other races now that we have the opportunity.  But no, it meant Human led no matter what baby.

Personally, I love the line. Mainly because the sentence nullifies itself: if you won't let fear compromise who you are, then the fear of compromising who you are can't be allowed to compromise who you are.

Only if you assume Shepard was actually feeling fear as a result of considering such a compromise.  That's not necessarily true.  Even if that were so, you're placing that fear on the same level as that to which Shepard is actually referring: fear of the Reapers.

At that point it was only insult added to injury.

The ending choice was too damn binary. Still would prefer having the base spared, but not giving it to one guy who basically has GENOCIDE written on his forehead.

Maybe he should have said "And end up like the science team on the derelict reaper? I don't think so, I won't have us toying with technology that may cost us the war."
