At random times while I'm playing DA:O the screen goes color crazy. Everything is different colors, some splashes, some blocks, weird patterns. Sometimes its just a sword, the next time the whole screen. If I alt-tab out then back in it goes away for a little bit.
I should add it only happens on this game. The only other game I have that would be close to this one in demands on the machine is Fallout 3, I have no problems with that game.
My video card is a nvidia 9600GT. I have the latest drivers installed.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou in advance.
Video card issue??

The majority of nVIDIA drivers any newer than the GT200 graphics card generation are not compatible with DA: O or with either of the ME games for the 9n00 and older Geforce cards. The mismatch between the Geforce drivers and the old graphics cards has kept on getting worse as the cards have aged and the newer Geforces have advanced. All of the new drivers aren't bad, just most of them.

Gorath is correct, the latest drivers do not work with older graphics cards even for games not much more than a year old. New graphics drivers are released to support the latest graphics cards and the latest games, at the expense of performance on older games and cards. Uninstall your graphics drivers and install something like the 197.45 drivers. Those should work well. (I use a 9800 GT with them)

Drivers cannot alter the performance of a low end device such as that poor HD 5450. You've probably burned it up by overstressing it for too long. If that isn't the case, there are plenty of past threads in the forum archives about that error message.

Just for grins and giggles, even though the forum's own built-in search is just terrible, I just restricted the hits to this forum only, and interestingly, the count has gone down from 36 to 35.

It appears that Thudarr visited on Saturday at about 3:00 PM CDT, and hasn't returned for his answer yet. I'm wondering if he'll show up around the same time today?
P. S. It was this question that resulted in me wondering why so many hits showing up in the forum's own search had their closing comment as one of mine (and it was because of the screen resolution conflict situation that so many people ran into with the Demo for DA2, and I'd added that to so many of those old threads).
