I had a pair of Panasonic buds that I rather liked right up untill about the time they broke on me. I've had them for less than a year. Prior to that I had Skullcandy Ink buds (those sucked- under warrenty, went through 3 pairs in two and a half months), Sony buds (which in fairness, didn't break but got lost in a forest), and two of the iPod ones, all in the past four years. Plus various small-time, crappy, useless ones in between each of the big names.
So can anybody recommend a set of durable headphones? Perferably not buds since they're so iffy whether they'll be comfortable or painful. I'm looking at about a maximum of $40 CDN in my budget for this.
My usage includes general walking around and commuting on public transit as well as daily working out with various routines involving running, cycling and weights. Just listed in case it matters, though I've never ridden over the wires or crunched them under my shoes, but something must be the cause of this misfortune...
Pre-emptive: Thanks for your help!
Headphones. Suggestions?

I tend to use Logitech headphones, though they aren't very useful for outdoor use.
Sorry.

I would still suggest you check out Logitech's stock at logitech.com

Hm, yeah I just checked out Logitech's site on your suggestion - definitely not what I'm after at the mo'. The cost alone is prohibitive to me (ranging from $50-$530). Thanks for the thought anyway, though.
The Sennheiser's don't look bad - and are over the ear, which is nice -but again I'm not using these for computer stuff so the microphone is useless to me and I always worry that ones made for sitting down docile use are going to be too delicate anyway.
But you suggested something and I appreciate that, thanks.
Any more thoughts, gang?

the kind i used when i used to dj at parties. the sony mdr-v700dj headphones will suit you fine. they're "loud", the sound is crystal clear, there is bass, and i do believe the price has dropped on them. i bought them after they just came out. their price at the time was $130.00. it's been 6yrs now, and they're still in use. the only problem with them is that if you aren't used to them, your ears will hurt just from the pressure of the headphones. it takes a little bit before your ears can adjust. once they do, you can wear them over both ears for an entire day.

Really? Which model then and what context do you 'em in? 'Cause like I said, I had the SkullCandy "Inked" model and it was absolute rubbish. Again, I went through 3 pairs in 2.5 months. And that was just with general travelling and gym usage - nothing special.

Bose Quiet Comfort 2 headphoens are absolutely amazing. They're pricey though, and not good for anything active.

Cresyn model LMX-SH611B from Walmart. Cost about $16-17 CDN a pair. Nothing overly fancy, but they're decent sounding, over the ear, and quite long lasting.
I like to listen to stuff when I go to bed, so I wear these. They often get twisted, slept on, rolled over, and generally roughed up, and yet last quite long. A pair will last me a good 4-5 months of that sort of abuse. I'm sure you'd get several years out of them, but they're cheap enough that I consider them "disposable" and buy a new pair.
