Up till now bioware has kind of had an excuse for lack of female representation for most of the races you encounter in ME1 less so in ME2 now in Me3 I want to see some females Im too curious to let it just go by. Just as much as I want to see what Quarians look like Im also curious to see what female turians, krogans, salarians, batarians, and drell too.

You do get to see a female krogan in ME2. Not much different from the males. I'd imagine it's mostly the same with the other races.

It's not a female, it's an immature male serving as an ambassador for the females.

Yes, I don’t even care if they look that different from the males. Just so long as we see some and they hopeful don’t just boobs on everything to say it’s female.

You don't see a female Krogan. If you meant the one from the female camp, that was a prepubescent male who hadn't done the rite not a female. Any female that went into the male camp would be a huge target and cause allot of fights. The only female you come across is the dead one covered by a sheet.

The only thing we know about female krogans is that they are smaller than males, at least going by the dead one in mordin's loyalty mission

You sure? I thought there was an ambassador, one you can talk to, but there's one that you can't that has a much... quieter, raspier voice than krogan are known to have, that tells you that you're "forbidden to interact with a female" or something like that.

EDIT: Huh... where do you hear that they're a pre-pubescent male?

His voice is higher because he hasn't hit puberty yet.

That and not every krogan has to sound like Worf.

"Bring me their women!", Lone Wolf's shout echoed within the palace walls.
And thus the galaxy's finest women were brought to him.
And thus he died of scale itch in three months time.

I'm on board. In Mass Effect 2 we got to see male quarians. I imagine we are bound to encounter females when we deal with the salarians, and turians in Mass Effect 3. Goodness! There are so many races that only have on gender appear in the game. If I'm right elcor females look the same as males. We've got a long list to run down.

Grunt wasn't at puberty either, technically, otherwise there would be no need for the rite, but I concede the point.

"They're all males in the game. We try to avoid females because is...what do you do with the females? Breasts, lipstick on her? In some of the concept art we'd draw lipstick on the male one and I go stop, can you take this serious? LOL!!!"

From the "Creating Garrus" video.

So, most likely, no females of any kind for ME3.

Sometimes I think they're thinking about this too hard.

Honestly, roll a die. Upscale or downscale character size 10-20%. Pick slightly variant skintones if you want, or change the patterning a little. Change the voice. It's good enough, really it is.

There are a lot of animals you can't tell apart from a distance. Why should all aliens be immediately visually distinguishable by gender.

You probably don't notice how many restrictions they (or any scifi universe) put on the "alien" races to be "human-like".

It is also mentioned in the GI videos that aside from the creative aspect of "how do you create a female, add lipstick and boobs?" limitations, there is also a problem that if a species is too inhuman players can't relate to them, which is why the Asari have an exact human face, and there are also technical difficulties- for example the animation in ME is done by motion-capturing and it would be impossible to animate a species which doesn't have a human skeleton in the same way.

All that in mind, they prefer to keep it from turning cheesy and remain on the same quality standard which sometimes requires some sacrifices to be made. They also said that they would all like to add more species to the universe if it's possible.

Doubt you'll see any female aliens in ME3, if you watch the videos in the Game Informer Mass Effect hub, one of the developers says they'd prefer not to show them, rather than put something that wasn't on par with the other character designs.

Plus he said all concepts of the female aliens were kind of ridiculous looking.

Edit: Dammit he beat me to it. :P

Personally, I favour the version suggested by rk87.

It's the second-to-last panel (but read the whole thing, it's gold!).
