heyas;
according to what i've found, i have to complete act of mercy before i can go on the deep roads quest. now whatever other bugs are associated with this quest, i can't get it to start.
Act of Mercy is currently under rumors. it 'cannot be followed up at this time.'
i have completed all the other quests that are listed as required to go on the expedition. there are some that i have NOT completed. is there some side quest i have to go into to activate this thing? does it have to do with the last letter at home i refuse to accept? the one from your 'mysterious friend' who knows you just want to go meet him at some secluded place. sounds so like a trap or a chump game; i never accepted.
i have also seen this posted as an Act of Mercy bug fix:
To fix this you can use gffeditor -> SAVEGAME_CAMPAIGN ->
SAVEGAME_JORNAL -> SAVEGAME_JORNAL_ACTIVE_LIST -> 0 ->
rumors_act_of_mercy. If you find it, you can right click on full tree of
0 -> delete.
And then you can add your save back to your savegame folder.
i tried this. first, i found a gffeditor.exe in my dragon age: tools directory. i ran it, i tried to open my save game. it failed to open the das, the das.met, or the xml file because it apparently has no clue what those things are. is there some OTHER gffeditor i'm supposed to have or get? because da2 does not have a tools directory.
also, can someone post more verbatim instructions as to what this is trying to say? what does 'then you can add your save back to your savegame folder' mean??
thanks, guys!

Have you completed the Wayward Son quest yet? Act of Mercy should trigger once you have unless there is a bug somewhere. You get a letter at home from an anonymous friend wanting to meet you at a secluded location.

yes, i completed wayward son.
so, basically, stop ignoring the anonymous letter that looks like a trap. will do!
