ME1: Ilos, by far. I really liked the awesome architecture and the feeling when you were walking through the last shelter of an entire species.
And Vigil. Was just an awesome section of gameplay on so many levels.

1) Ilos - Relatively short, but one of the most moving and most beautiful locations, in, well, ever
2) Virmire - Important decisions are great, and the meeting with Sovereign was **** scary.
3) Battle of the Citadel - A fantastic sense of scale - possibly a sign of things to come.
ME2:
1) Lair of the Shadow Broker - The second half was enough to warrant buying the game twice (which, incidentally, I had to do, because I installed ME2 on a second computer and needed a Cerberus code, buying another copy was cheaper than buying a code)
2) Thane's Recruitment Mission - I don't know why, but I loved it. Something good about going into a skyscraper construction site late at night guns blazing, pushing mercs out of windows and throwing them off bridges, just to get to an assasin, not to aid him, or stop him, just to recruit him afterwards.
3) The Suicide Mission - The threat of squadmates dying made this incredibly intense and atmospheric, and whilst I feel it should have been longer, I really enjoyed it.

There's so much happening in both of them whether it is squad conflict (Wrex, argument about 2nd leader), confrontation with final villain or the fact that it's not just Shepard and his 2 henchmen but (almost) entire squad, that is on the mission.
And the icing on the cake... the choices!

OK this is how Man-Giraffe-Dog came to be:

While growing up it was spotted in the wild (but the team was all killed by it and the photos were recovered afterwards)

After which it began its infiltration of humanity, disguised as Giraffe-Dog:

Which leaves us here. Man-Giraffe-Dog is poised to attack and destroy humanity and I'm trying to warn everyone before it's too late. This is totally serial guys. You need to prepare.
Excelsior!

ME2: Tali's Loyalty mission, Samara's Loyalty mission.
I don't have the DLC's yet so the ME2 bit could change.

ME2: (LotSB), Recruiting the Krogan (blasting through that ship graveyard Vanguard style is just epic!),

Mass Effect 2 was probably Jacob's loyalty mission, with the whole shipwrecked crew and everything

Now there's a minority opinion. That's usually near the top of the "least favorite" list.

I reckon thats more because people aren't big fans of Jacob.
Anyway, nothing wrong with being in the minority.

ME2: Suicide Mission was great (I loved the decision-based Omega Relay jump sequence), I like the ending of Horizon. For DLC Kasumi, LOTSB, and Overlord were all great, the gameplay of Arrival was weak but the ending was strong. For N7 missions I enjoyed the chain of linked missions, particularly the one on the ship. For loyalty missions... agreed with Treason, Zaeed's was cool too. They're all great but when they engage you in a way beyond just combat that's what makes the difference.
I hated everything in the hover tank in ME2 (Overlord sequences included), it controlled better than the Mako but its armanents were 10x less interesting. If BioWare wants to stay in the vehicle sequence business they need to man up and incorporate lessons learned from the Halo and Battlefield franchises, accepting that people will notice. Otherwise lose those gameplay sequences altogether.

Most people seem to dislike the writing. And if anything, I'd say it's actually part of why people don't like Jacob, rather than the other way 'round.

And you have to point it out? I think it's good that he likes Jacob's loyalty mission. You don't have to say something like that, you know

Why not? I found it surprising. I expressed that surprise. Isn't it amazing how forums work?
