This is a pretty minor thing to worry about but my Soldier's been on a smooth run so far with a regen armor build. I use the chest piece that gives you -10% on shield regen delay and the helmet piece which also takes away an additional 10%. But now I'm thinking of stacking weapon damage pieces. The eye piece (+10% headshot damage), arm piece (+5% weap. damage), and Kestrel chest piece (+5% weap. damage).

I don't think armor pieces have a really large effect so go for it. While I do think shield regen is probably the best out of the crap you get, I think the head piece is so fugly I can;t use it.

I think the Kestrel helm is better than the eye piece. It only increases headshot damage by 5%, but it increases ALL weapon damage by 3%. So you get +8% headshot damage total as well as 3% damage to all other shots. And 3% shields.

Unless you can guarantee 100% headshots, I don't think the visor is worth buying, not if you have the Kestrel armor that is.

The Shield regen pieces are very nice.

But if you want to try out different setups, than boosting weapon damage could also be considered,
and the armor pieces look cool enough IMHO ^_^

I've tried using a Commando class passive with the Recon Hood, Kestrel Torso Sheath, Amplifier Plates (or N7 Shoulder Guards), and Stabilization Gauntlets. The legs, I swap back and forth, but I've favored the Ordinance Pack one.

Here's the wiki on the armor pieces so you could compare what is available: http://masseffect.wi...r_Customization

Of the damage boosters, the visor is probably the only important one. None of the armor pieces will make a big difference anyway, esp. given ARush.

The regen chest piece is easily the best 'survival' gear you can get imo. Shields will always be weak and health regens continously, so the faster your shields regen, the tougher you'll be.

For a soldier, if you're still concerned about tanking, then just the life-support legs or shoulders are enough.

But that chest piece makes it look like Shepard is a lactating sow.  Nipples nipples nipples.

Is it really worth it?

I always found the regen pieces boring anyway. They might be good, but I won't use them.

I don't actually spend a lot of time selecting armor pieces at all. On combat classes, ful Kestrel. On caster classes, Blood Dragon. Done.

My personal preference is to max damage to kill things quicker, and thus I don't have to worry about taking damage. This may or may not be the absolute best way, but this way works well for me. So if you are doing fine with shield regen then keep with it, unless you just want to try another way. Whatever works is the best strategy.

Yeah, sure! Shep is nourishing the galaxy by saving it from the Reapers, so why not?

lol, can you really call the Capacitor Helmet boring? A man who wears that shows that he isn't afraid of anything!

I didn't mean the way they look :)

But then I'd actually have to agree that not a lot about the armor in ME2 is all that interesting.

As for what looks best, it's certainly NOT the Capacitor Helmet! Looks absolutely crazy but not actually good.

With AR giving such a large boost, weapon upgrades having good boosts, and ammo powers with good boosts I don't think a few % extra damage is worthwhile [IMHO].

I'd play with the other pieces esp. if you're in the mood just to mess around. Of course some of the pieces are fugly but that's life.

The armour pieces do not make much of a difference, so I tend to go by what I think looks best and gives some-kind of useful bonus. My Sentinel, for example, wears the Archon Visor, Amplifier Plates, Heavy Damping Gauntlets, Shield Harness and Kestrel Power Packs. By contrast, my Soldier wears the Asymmetrical Defence Layer, Off-Hand Ammo Pack, Aegis Ves and Life Support Webbing. I like to make my Shepards look different. Sure there might be more useful sets, but I like how these look and they have nice bonuses.

The Archon Visor doesn't work.  Its bonus is broken.

If you're playing on insanity shield armor parts won't work at all.
You can consider power mixed with weapon damage armor parts or all health armor parts except legs (i cant stand life support webbing looks anymore). You can select any helmet you want, it's matter of preference. About non working Visor, post ^above^

Ah, I didn't know that. That sucks. Well, it still looks cool, so I might use it anyway.

It does yeah. The Kestrel helmet is also kind of silly looking. Bring either of those two and it just looks like Shepard isn't quite taking things seriously.
