Because whatever i tried to do all i got was "Sorry, there are no payment methods available for
your country." :crying:

Oh -So this is how it is - My default country has always been Canada so I've got the country problem much later.
I should probably stop  my "should warn us before checkout " rant now.

Open http://profile.ea.com, login with your DA:O account and change the country to something else like UK.

Thanks a lot! I thought that i had to change location in social.bioware.com profile, not in the profile.ea.com one. Anyway, finally i got that Warden Keep dlc, yay! Also confirmed, that this method worked with common visa classic debit card as well, no verification required.

It's just so f**cking annoying to by game and see it 2 days before release on the torrents and 3 days after with all addons and ingame items, and now this - I just can't buy DLC that is all ready have been shared in torrents. There is only one question remains: "Why you do this so damn hard to be loyal and respectful customer ???".

Mmm, trick with instant visa card is the real workaround for this problem for loyal Russian customers which was kindly created by our lovely company - EA:O...confirmed
I definitely 'love' EA. As an example. Let's go to http://eastore.ea.co...uctID.169251600 As a Russian customer I can get Mass Effect 2 just for 54.99 Euro.....Wow ...Now...Let's load Steam. There I can get that damn ME2 just for 59.99USD. Now simple math comes: 54.99EUR x 1.4387 USD per  Euro = 79.11 USD
I'd like to ask WTF? Why should I pay 19.12 USD more? What f*cking for?
Burn in hell, EA . So be it.

Ok, here's promised update. I successfully bought 400 points today. Here's what I did:

1. Registered new PayPal account. Country: United Kingdom; Address, postcode and city: just google some hotel in your chosen country). Do not pick USA `cause you will need US bank account info to complete registration. I did not use any proxy or VPN for PayPal registration.
2. Added my Visa Virtual card to PayPal account and did NOT verify it (not needed for EA/Bioware transactions).
3. Changed country in EA profile to United Kingdom, no billing address or anything like that - just country and language.
4. On Bioware Points checkout page entered billing address from my PayPal account.

There we go... no need to connect via proxy or VPN. I used Visa Virtual card bought from Qiwi payment terminal but regular MasterCard or Visa classic/Gold/Platinum should work as well.
All website-related issues (like refreshing homepage) were fixed by clearing browser cache completely and restarting it.

Oh, thanks, it works for me.
And actually, you don't need to change your PalPay account, because it all works with russian account too.

It's great you found a way, but I still have a huge question WHY. Why should we invent cheat-ways to pay legally? And yes, they don't have problems selling digital versions of the game, but can't provide the DLC. That's ridiculous to say the least.

I wonder, maybe EA Russia owns torrents or something... I simply can't find other logical explanation.

Why? Cause I'm 100% sure EA won't lift a finger to solve this problem. I want to play DLC but at the same time I want to support developers (not publisher or customer support, which is also nonexistant).

Edit: Yes, they don't have problems selling DDE... except they charge us in €. More money for exact same product - what's not to like?

Well THAT I can understand. EA loooooooooooves money (and who doesn't). Charging - yeah that's bad, unfair and blabla. But in the DLC case they don't get money at all! I mean, they translate DLC, do the voice over... so that NO ONE could pay for that? I understand EA Russia cares s*** for customers, but MONEY? It really tears my brains apart.

After some angry (and useless) ranting on Steam I came here. Huge thanks to all folks who posted in this thread. At least there's a way, albeit a screwed up one, to buy DLC if you are in Russia.
This attitude on the part of EA is really appalling. I guess their world map has only the US, EU and "Here be pirates" written all over everything else.
I sincerely hope Mass Effect 2 won't have similar issues, but then again, hope dies last. :)))

А в EA Russia видимо принято сидеть на попе ровно и не готовиться к релизам игр.

If they have 'Here be pirates' - well, may be it's better NOT to disappoint them? -:)

Looks like pirates got BETTER product in Russia.

p.s.Bought Steam version now IF new DLCs will not be available via Steam things will start getting even more interesting

Last time I had to use such tricks for payment is when I played Socilotron long ago(but in Socio's case it was confirmed by Socio's support that it's ok to play such tricks and they explained WHY such situation was in first place)

Because that's a trick that.... works? :)   I doubt that folks at EA are falling all over themselves to find a solution at this moment. And of course the old wisdom of "разрешено все, что не запрещено" holds true here. :innocent:

You are right of course, the situation is bizzare. Games are entertainment, but they make them harder to get than prescription drugs.  :police:

While I personally don't pirate games, I'm not too judgemental about people in Russia who do that. One simply has to look at the situation described here to understand why these things happen on such massive scale.

Alrighty, it seems EA has found a way to allow us to purchase Bioware points after all:
social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/94/index/804809/1
Not the best possible solution but any is better than none in this case.

Неу, good news for us in the recent update here: social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/94/index/804809/1
Particularly: Starting next week, international gamers will be able to purchase
Bioware points-in-a-box at select retailers, allowing them to purchase
and experience DLC. At this time, we can confirm that they will be
available in Germany, Poland and Russia. We're pulling together a
complete list of countries where this will be available and retailers,
and will update this message with that information.

I'm sooooooooooooooo happy =)

As to downloading portrait - it doesn't work for me) I downloaded from the Character Creator without any problems, but the game simply doesn't do that. Don't know why.

So BioWare released Return to Osagar for PC.

I went to http://profile.ea.com and changed country to UK.

Registered at paypal as russian user and validiated my russian visa card.

At points.bioware.com registered paypal acount ("Manage Billing Accounts") with France as country (who cares).

Paid 3.5 EUR for 400 points to get Return to Ostagar DLC. Now downloading it.

Did you people posting above seriously wait for 2 months instead of following the steps mentioned above to get points?

I'm talking with silly EA support right now (fifth conversation during last few days) and pointed them to this thread. Will update in case of any information provided.

Why they are _forcing_ us to resort to piracy?

The same `we don't care` and disconnect. Bioware - provide us some answers. Please.

We are still paying customers and we want to support Bioware for making excellent games (we don't want to support E(vil)A(bsurd), but that's different story). I got both games as Steam DDE pre-order (and already ordered addon for DA:O as well). Now I want to pay even more - and can't. That's silly.

Got answer from SENIOR support. Here it is:

----****--->

Greetings,

Thank you for contacting Electronic Arts.

We understand that there has been a delay in our response and apologize for the wait. We are currently experiencing especially heavy traffic. While we are doing our best to respond in a timely manner, some delays are inevitable. We thank you for your patience while we work to address these issues.

We are aware that there are currently a limited number of countries to choose from when purchasing Bioware points, and we are looking into adding more countries to that list very soon.

Please check the Dragon age site regularly for any updates: http://dragonage.bioware.com/

We appreciate your patience and regret any inconvenience caused. If you have anymore questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us again.

Sincerely,

EARep Dylan

So we have two options now: a fishy workaround with country change or those promised "points-in-a-box". So pick your poison. Please don't tell me we'll have to buy DLC's for Mass Effect 2 with those stupid points... God, I'm so glad that Awakening is available on Steam.

All hail Steam - The only place you can get games without obligatory crappy translations.
