As the title says, the game's installed correctly, with Cerberus Network DLC, as per the free download off DA2 (Thanks for that, btw!). Whenever I start the game, it starts the splash movie, makes a couple of sounds, then freezes. I have to kill it from the task manager. Turning off the sound does nothing to help.

Things I have done so far:
Updated all drivers.
Redownloaded and reinstalled the game. Reinstalled the DLC.
Turned off sound to see if it was a sound card issue. Nothing.
Added the game to my firewall exclusion list.

Anyone have some insight on how to fix this?

Ah, and technical info:
Version: 1.02
Processor: Athlon II X2 240
Clock Speed: 2800
RAM: 4gigs
GFX: Radeon HD 4870
Sound: Speakers (HDAD)
Driver: 6.0.6002.18005

I think I have the same problem as you, it crashed all of a sudden during the suicide mission part 1 and now everytime I start it up I go past the Bioware logo and the EA logo and then when I press start to go into the menu it crashed to desktop.

A theory I had was that certain servers were down, EA servers perchance?

Since these videos are unskippable a lot of people simply remove or rename these files. Maybe this fixes your problem as well. The files are:

ME_EAsig_720p_v2_raw
BWLogo

They are under Mass Effect 2 -> BioGame -> Movies (the install folder, not under Documents)

You can either remove these files or rename them by adding the word backup in the file. The movies will no longer load so if they were corrupt for some reason the problem should be solved. If this doesn't solve the issue the problem is elsewhere.

Had this problem too first time ever today. Found out it was "EADM-ingame" that was messing it up. Disabling it(from EADM settings) helped.

Open EA download manager -> Settings -> "IN GAME" tab -> uncheck "Enable EADM In Game".

I believe this feature came with the newest EADM update and it even says it's not working with every game. I haven't  had any bigger freezing problems prior this update. Ofcourse this only happens if you're using EADM(not sure if it's mandatory to be able to play ME2).

Win XP, Vista, or 7??

It sounds like either DirectX isn't correct, 9.0c or you have an issue with your drivers/video card maybe. Which video card driver are you running, and how recently have you upgraded. Some of the really new drivers don't work with the older cards(which I think yours is) so you might try rolling back or reinstalling an older driver and see how it works. Also make sure you have DX 9.0c installed and you might want to reinstall it to see if it got corrupted.

Okay, I really have no idea what is wrong with ME2, never had any problems with it before now. It just merely crashed while I was playing through the collector ship and now crashed everytime I start it up

my specs are:
Intel Duo Core e6600 2.40 ghz
GTX275 896
2 gigs of Ram
On a Vista home premium.
