I think the DLC items are very good, yes, but overpowered? No. I think they walk the line between 'good' and 'too good' a little bit, yes, but people would be even more pissed off than they already are about it if they paid 5 dollars for s**tty, useless items.

You don't need any DLC items to get Fenris magic immune, you can do that in the vanilla game with vanilla items.

I can't wait to try out the warrior and mage gear...still, with all the rings and amulets you can get a whopping 30% or damage resistance. I was happy when I died a few times on Sundermount this time round, so Nightmare Insane is doing it's job.

Several good/valuable/long-term useful items. Most of them look pretty cool as well. Though the only thing I've been wondering about is why Aveline's ring grants her immunity to something that's in her skill set anyways. Would've been better to make it offer stun immunity.
I think it's a big plus, if you use my Aveline builds. That's 2 points I can use to get other talents sooner, as opposed to sinking them into the SnS tree, with things I don't really need.
I might make alternate builds for the DLC items if enough people get them.

Whose ring? I thought there was only stuff for Hawke? There is stuff for companions as well? How do I get it?

I disagree regarding DLC items being overpowered. Some of them are very useful, mostly due to lack of attribute req's (a warrior has great pre-buff chestpieces, for example). I think the itemization is pretty good: for example, the already over-represented two-handers don't get anything to write home about; the rogues get a nature dagger (complementing the Low Blade), and a fire bow (since my item properties fix got an official blessing and will be incorporated in some form in 1.03, that brings the elemental bows count to 3, balancing things a bit).

Companion-only accessories are in the same class chests Hawke equipment is in. I have no idea how could you possibly miss them.

Yeah, had them all alon gbut used them for all my companions, just did not know they were meant for specific ones...
Cheers...
I guess by OP I meant stacking the items like I have done for Fenris, getting massive DR AND massive MR; he is almost invisible...

I don't have the DLC, but would they be considered op, early game or late game? The DLC items from DA:O were just in a league of their own. The items that you could get before DA2 came out are nice, not op, but a good boost in the early game.
No, they are not OP. No doubt, you'll find most of these items useful and powerful, but they aren't idiotically game-breaking, like DAO DLC items were.

Indeed. In fact early in the game - ie. pre Deep Roads -, some items you find will be better/more powerful than some of the DLC stuff (daggers come to mind). Not by much, but still...

That's the catch with the evolving items. At level 5, your Edge of Night will deal 8 (yes, eight) spirit damage, as opposed to Desdemona, that will deal 17 nature, or Anderfels, that will deal 20 fire. That said, towards the end of each Act, the evolving stuff really starts to outshine everything else.
All in all, many thanks to design team for making a useful, powerful, neatly itemized, but, at the same time, balanced and not-game-breaking DLC pack. As usual in DA2's case, mechanics guys' work is top-notch. Sure, I still have a trauma from DAO that was a catastrophe in this respect, but solid quality work is solid quality work.

The cool thing about some of them, notably the rogue weapons and the war axe and shield is that they increase in stats and power in accordance with your level.

That is a good thing, ultimately. But it's not always good -- and that's cool, actually. Refer to my previous post.

Ah, you have a no restrictions mod then? Cause otherwise the accessories are very clearly labeled as being for X person and can't be equiped on anyone else. Now without restrictions, yes, the start to get into OP zones.

Let me get this strait OP, you're complaining about DLC items (which are not required to play the game) being overpowered? Seriously? So what, you think that they're going to "fix" them because you think they're overpowered? Here's an idea, do some sodding research on things like this before you download them if being overpowered is that much of a concern to you in the future.
Roid Rage?

lol Seeing as how Im 5 foot nothing and 125lbs I'd love to know where the "Roids" are coming from. But "rage"? Yea, I kind of have a problem with people who ****** and moan about optional weapons/armor/items being overpowered. Hello?! If it's so much of a concern then dont DL or just get rid of them if you already have them. Complaining is one thing, but complaining about optional item content like this being OP? That's just stupid, no other way to put it.

It would also be great if items had some background story through quests, instead of simply collecting them from a chest.

Problem with high level armor is that it competes with the Champion Armor which is supposed to be your story defining set. There are already a couple of individual items that are better than items with the Champion set. I believe there are enough Mage items to actually not have to wear the Mage Champion set at all.AngryFrozenWater wrote...
At higher levels only apparel seems to be interesting. If BW releases a second pack then I hope they'll add some high level armor and weapons. It would be nice if the armor improved upon the gear in the first pack - much like the item sets you get from doing main quests.

Expansion pack/ post Act 3 DLC is where the opportunity to expand on high level items will be.
