So, upon reinstalling NWN2, MotB, and SoZ after a year, and trying to patch the game to the latest version, I keep getting bumped into multiple errors.  Either the autopatcher utility saying it can't find /nwn2_pcx2_modfix.txt, or attempting to use the manual patch program from the NWVault spewing out different error codes, either saying an internal error, or an old file was found but the contents did not match, or even saying the patch file is invalid.

Suggestions?

Here's a couple of Google links that might/could hint/point at/to whats wrong

and don't forget Selene's put a lot of time, experience, & effort into this (Post 4, mostly).

my speculations are either (1) you changed something in the installation folder (not likely), or (2) you need to update your Dx9 + .Net 3.5

Yes, I'm aware of Selene's guideline, yet for some reason it failed to work for me. I'm also running the up-to-date DirectX9.0c and .Net 3.5 Framework.

have a look at this thread. Although it isn't specifically the same, i notice that both issues relate to v1.20.1541 ..

lesser: you might get happy by installing the releases one at a time; install OC, play for a few minutes, install MotB, play for a few minutes, (do stuff from link above) install SoZ .. what package *are* you using, anyway? Steam, DVD, D2D .. (oh, nvm )

least: 550 watts seems a bit low. not that it's related but it does regulate everything in the system

( ps. I'm using XP/SP3 on a Pentium D925 w/ dual GT8500's, recently upgraded PSU to 850w (after the old one blew out two hardrives) & all-round better now )

maybe someone will drop along with more info on that modfix file.

I have always installed in this order:

Install NWN2:OC
Install MoTB
Patch with autopatcher
Install SoZ
Patch with autopatcher

The modfix problem (see this thread) has been around a long while. Installing as I describe above avoids that problem.

Regards

I tried your method, Kaldor, and I'm getting caught at the autopatcher after the MotB installer with the following:

An incorrect version of the file was found on your system.
The update was unable to complete, since the file contents were incorrect.
F:\\Program Files\\Atari\\Neverwinter Nights 2\\Modules\\1100_West_Harbor.mod

Right, so...after the 5th reinstall, I finally got my game all patched up to the the latest version, so I can safely say this problem is resolved.
