My first dragon kill, heh.  Anyway, I see a lot of posts on here asking for advice on how to kill this boss.  Aside from all the Youtube videos that you can watch, I'd say killing Flemeth is very simply just a matter of keeping your distance.

That's it.

I did this fight with me (arcane warrior), Alistair (tank), Leliana and Zavran.  I didn't have a healer (I missed out on Wynne) and I managed to get through it on normal difficulty.

Granted, I'm not gonna lie, I had about 20 or so healing potions and a few mana pots as well.  I equipped Harrowment's staff that I got for supporting him in the dwarf storyline and then just stood back and nuked with Leliana.  Zavran died really quick but I put Alistair in some pretty good gear with some warmth balm for the fire resist, and everytime his health got close to 50%, I'd have him chug a pot.  Meanwhile, I kept up tempest and inferno and some cone of colds.  Worked like a charm until Flemeth grabbed Alistair in her mouth and started munching on him and I was OOM so I couldn't heal him.

But Leliana and I managed to just outlast her.  People questioning Leliana's worth should probably learn how to use her.  I'll give you a hint:  it's the buffs, stupid!

Song of Valor is great for casters because of the mana regen.  That's how I was able to slowly burn Flemeth down.  I'd just wait for my mana to creep back up, then I'd cast a nuke.  Done deal.  Song of Courage is great for melee because of the attack bonus, and Captivating Song is great for dealing with large groups of mobs (which is like 99% of DAO) because of the AOE stun.

One thing I've noticed about this game is that it's brutally hard until you learn the fights.  Then it's almost really easy.  You can probably say that about most games, but this is really evident in DAO.  For example, the first few times I tried killing the Brood Mother, I got wtfpwned.  And then when I learned to just kill the tentacles and the adds immediately, and occasionally cast cone of cold, the fight was a cake walk.

Same thing with Branka.  Was just getting destroyed until I learned to kill the yellow golems first, then the white ones, then run around and get all the lyrium so Branka couldn't clone herself,  cast some AoE spells,  and next thing I knew Branka was at like 2% HP with my entire party up plus two golems on my side.

I haven't finished the game yet, I just got to Redcliffe for the Landsmeet, but getting through Brood Mother, Branka, and Flemeth makes me believe that though later fights will undoubtedly be hard and I know I'll die SEVERAL times, I'll be able to get through them once I learn the encounters. :)

I guess the point of this thread is just to say to those that might be getting frustrated with DAO because you might think it's too hard, as I did, should stick with it if you're still on the fence.  Because trust me, I am by no means a hardcore gamer.  I wouldn't even consider myself that skilled.  But I've been able to progress through the game just by learning the encounters.  Once you do that, and find the right tactics that work, trust me, the game becomes...dare I say...a breeze.

Anyway...back to the game!!!

Please change your title into something else. "I killed Flemeth" gives away quite a bit on the forum index to unaware players. Thanks.

GhoXen; well, it IS the spoiler forums.. :P

Also, I can suggest fire-resistant armor on your tanks. Make this boss a cakewalk. Juggernaut and the armor you can make with drake scales, for example. Also make sure to attack from the side, while having the toughest tank stand in a more "exposed" area to take more of the hits.
